good, I think I'd prefer winglets. I'm sure the active spoiler from the standard car is involved as well.

 

For those late to this speculation party, poster Chicko said he has seen it and it is cool but not extreme, meaning not like a GT3 RS. More like 458 to Speciale, and 488 to Pista. Which I am fine with. As long as they bother to redesign the front and rear fascias subtly so that it can be visually distinguished between a GTB and VS, I will be happy.

How is everyone feeling about the possible (likely) launch name 296 Mugello and 296 Mugello Spider. Or would you prefer they keep it as 296 Versione Speciale and 296 Versione Speciale Spider (which is entirely too long)

 

I read last week in some publication that it will actually also be called the "pista".

 

If you have paid close enough attention over the years, 296 Mugello has been trademarked for a long time. I like it, if it turns out to be the name!

I hope not as this sets a bad precedent for confusion. Most of my friends refer to my 488 Pista simply as the Pista. Two Pistas would be too much in my opinion. Besides, I do think the Pista was named after the word “track” because it is, to date, the rawest track focused mid-engine car Ferrari has made from a purist point of view (F40 not withstanding).

 

I thought the Mugello was yet another iteration to come. No?

 

I am hoping this is the case as I am not fond of the moniker. But with the GTB/Spider, AF, VS, I don’t think there will be a further special model beyond this. That is why I think 296 Mugello is the VS. After all, 296 Versione Speciale Spider will take the entire glove box area!

 

All special car are referred to as version speciale while in production. It'll never be the name.

I have heard the hardcore version is called Piloti

 

Piloti, at least with the Pista, referred to a livery design exclusive for racing drivers or something along those lines. No different than the regular Pista, just cosmetic changes (and a sweet carbon spoiler). I would expect the same.

 

Would be odd, but then again they reused Stradale for the SF90.

Consider a 296 with the sill of the challenge, some louvres over the front wheel arches. A floating wing under the mouth as the 12cilindri in body color. An S duct close to the windshield. At the rear the exhaust is more flat and rounded with large use of carbon. There are the two winglets as the FXX but lower than an FXX

The car is aggressive and brutal, but not too much. It is clean and elegant in some ways, aggressive but clean

0. It has nothing to do with the final design. That render is just a lazy SF90XX overlay on a 296. The 296 VS doesn't look like an SF90XX in that way. To my eye, it looks way better than that render.
