If Lewis doesn't raise his game this season his legacy will be forever tarnished.

I doubt that. How would you rate Michael’s racing legacy? Forever tarnished because of his results at Mercedes?

Almost as funny as when people said Lewis would get his 8th WDC with Ferrari!

To some degree, yes. Whether it was the hybrid engines or the lack of open testing or his lack of motivation after a year off, he couldn't adapt and failed...beaten by Rossberg. He and Lauda are my two favorites...but those two down years took away much of the shine. IMO.

MS was warned by a few folks not to return. Testing changes and car /tire changes. Fun to see him back but painful to see how he did overall.

Schumacher at the very least had the excuse he wasn't in F1 for 3 full seasons and had a neck injury. 2012 was aa very good season of him but the car led him down very often.

Still, a lot of people reference the Mercedes years to tarnish' Michaels reputation.

My personal view? If this beatdown Leclerc is giving Lewis continues for the rest of the season it won't be the final nail in the coffin but it'll make a very convincing case. If Lewis doesn't return the favour in 2026, what's left of his reputation can be shot to bits IMO. You can not be in the GOAT conversation or even GOTE by being beaten by teammates you shouldn't be beaten by this often, with no valid excuses.

Lewiss being at a new team is no excuse for being 6 tenths down. When Russell came to Mercedes for that 1 race, he damn near won the race if it wasn't for divine intervention. When Russell joined the team full time he was beating Lewis. Same goes for Max when he made the switch, he was on pace immediately.

Need we remind people what was said about Perez (rightly so) last few years? That gap between Lewis and Leclerc isn't much smaller...

Sure and Prrz has how many titles and wins lol. Fact: Perez younger takes winning car and loses goes backwards lol. LH takes car capable of winning and…… wins lol. Perez was never a top tier driver.

Yeah a lot of people said that, I've never said that, I was reserved, waiting to see how Ferrari delivered. Not a focus point for me. He already has more tiltles than any other driver on the grid.

No matter what he does, LuLu will always be the GOAT to the Sky commentators and their bosses/scriptwriters, just ask them!

He is being exposed for where's he is at today fair and square against a talented teammate, which I'm enjoying.

    My post wasn't about winning.

Time to teammate. Perez (rightfully) got vilified for his bad performance. Lewis gets celebrated because of past glory, whilst doing the same terrible job.

When does Sir Lewis Hamilton crash and not make it into Q3 as often as Perez did? Saying Sir Lewis Hamilton and Perez in the same sentence is just providing entertainment at best.

His name is “Sergio Perez.” Why don’t you call him Sergio Perez? Why shorten his name to just “Perez”?

I call him Perez because I usually call drivers by their name. It's of no importance of me to say his full name.

Sometimes a very special individual comes along and transcends the sport, for example people say Tiger Woods, instead of Woods.

    Nonsense.

Jordan, Senna, Brady, Bird, Bradshaw, Palmer, DiMaggio, etc. They are all as great as it gets yet they don’t need to be referred to with a full title.

Anyone that needs to be called by some made up title to assert their greatness is vapid and insecure IMO. The whole Sir nonsense is almost as bad as people who prefer you refer to them as “Doctor” 24/7
