I feel a sense of urgency being engineered “get ‘em while you can cause limited time y’all” whatever that time period may be, decided by whomever and based upon whatever :)

Does anyone think there is truth to the rumors that there will be another more track focused very limited edition 296 coming later this year?

Ferrari isn’t GM cranking out Corvettes. They build around 13,000 cars per year—total. That’s not just by choice, it’s by necessity. Space, time, and people are all limited.

Now think about how many different models Ferrari is producing at once. It’s incredible they’re able to do it at all. Take the Roma Spyder (a personal favorite)—it’s an 18-month wait from order to delivery.

When Ferrari says, “We’re building cars from July 2025 to July 2026—and that’s it”... they mean it. There’s no second run. No dealer overstock. No marketing gimmick. That’s the reality of being Ferrari.

Could they sell more? Absolutely. But they physically can’t build more. Visit Maranello and you’ll see it firsthand—there’s no extra room, no hidden capacity. New cars are tucked in every corner waiting for final QC.

Bottom line: expect fewer 296 Speciales than Pistas. When the Pista was in production, Ferrari wasn’t juggling as many models. The competition for factory time is fierce—and that’s exactly what makes these cars so rare.

Google Ferrari Pista Piloti. That is what people are assuming will be available....you have to be a Ferrari Challenge or better driver to get one....

@09Scuderia that makes sense. Would they be able to keep the duration of production fixed but increase the numbers on the Speciale while reducing numbers on other models depending on margins?

Ferrari have been seen testing what appears to be 296 Challenge cars on the road, so its possible... It would be a smart move for Ferrari to introduce a higher tier more hardcore and limited model above the VS cars (like what Porsche do with their RS models).

Yeah - that is what I heard and that it would be mechanically different from the VS and not just cosmetically different like the pista piloti.

The car will be built for two years, in two years Ferrari could build a lot 296 GTB and GTS. So there will certainly be over 2000 Coupés and 1500 Apertas.

If there were fewer, Ferrari would have limited the number of cars. As long as that's not the case, you can't call it a collector's car.

The 296 Speciale IS the top tier 296. The Piloti is the same car...with painted liveries only for semi and pro Ferrari drivers. (interesting side note: you can get a painted livery on your non-Piloti Speciale) Ferrari isn't lambo. There won't be another version.

BTW, have you read how much faster the 296 Speciale is vs the gt3 RS around the same tracks?... The Ferrari is on a different level....I am sure Ferrari designed the Speciale to best the upcoming Gt2RS and whatever Lambo churns out....

One must own a 296 to be eligible by Ferrari to buy a 296 speciale. Ignore the magazine articles. Dealers have a certain number to allocate as well and it is many less than the number of 296s that they have sold.

I have to give credit to Ferrari where credit is due. In these pages all I see is sheer enthusiasm for the latest model and no one seemingly caring about the enormous price increase over the already high price of the regular car, which is currently in freefall valuation-wise. The passion for the brand is most definitely still alive.

I haven't seen any track times for the 296 Speciale.. Can you post them? These all must be Ferrari's own times as nobody independent has driven the car yet.

The upcoming 992.2 GT2 RS will most likely challenge the production car lap record for the Nürburgring, the 296 Speciale has zero hope of doing that, zero.

    Mercedes-AMG One - 6:29.090
    Porsche 911 (991.2) GT2 RS - 6:43.300
    Porsche 911 (992.1) GT3 RS - 6:49.328
    Ferrari 296 GTB - 6:58.70

(all times done on Pilot Sport Cup 2 R tyres).

The car will be built between the end of 2025 and the end of 2027. 296 Successor will be presented at the end of 2026 at the earliest.

Just like the Pista back then. People just hope that the car will increase in value dramatically. Let's be realistic, a 296 Speciale is no more exciting than a Pista.

This is not correct. I have received confirmation from two dealers - 296 current owner or active Ferrari owner (meaning own another one) and must be an active owner at delivery of 296 speciale.

World is moving less green than when 296 was conceived. Perhaps the successor will have a larger engine. Perhaps it won't. I think the Speciale will be made in the thousands, but maybe 4k total. A lot, but not an extraordinary amount. I can see it depreciating some used, but not a lot and going up longer term.

Is anyone seeing where what standard options there are? It's hard to tell on the configurator. Maybe getting ahead of myself, but looking for a video of Manzoni discussing it.
