To be clear not a camber issue but more a 'style' issue. It does mimic the style of the F40 for much less cost. As there have already been many dissecting every line and curve for the 296 Speciale plus it's performance potential. The competition arrived 3 years ago when you could still make some NOISE...

Not to rub salt in your wound but the worst part of your pain and suffering is how amazing the 296 is. Exceptional car. You’re ever in my neck of the woods come use it,

No, I did a near 5 month major service (parts on back order) and then I was thinking of selling in February and decided to keep it a while longer. Got it re-wrapped with fresh color PPF and then two days later a woman scraped the rear bumper while it was parked. Just got it back yesterday from that service after 60+ days although I dropped it back off today with my wrap guy to make some bumper adjustments.

Was the coupe your Atelier visit to New York or did that come later with the GTS?

Yeah, it's kind of slapstick. I feel like Larry David with my car situations. I had three in the garage last night for the first time in a while, and in the 10 months I've had three, it's been less than 7 days that I've actually had three. Continuously since last winter, one has been in the shop.

Atelier was for the GTS. See, the plan after I said I wanted the GTS more than the GTB was I keep both GTB and GTS orders to get a VS.

Then, they suggested Atelier or even TM for the GTS to build out my profile. I was ultimately only offered an Atelier build slot not TM, and took it and we talked about doing TM on the VS. We had several 'daydream' sessions about making it a real vintage tribute in TM.

Then Corso Pilota to build out my profile, which I did last March.

I put a 12CS deposit on reveal day.

I declined to Classiche the Testarossa - because I wanted to modify it a little with newer wheels, stereo, and update a few things.

When the Pista first hit, I could not get one without jumping through a flaming Lusso or Portofino hoop. Fast forward, years later, I found a pre-owned delivery mile example in a spec that was better than I could have done for around MSRP including full PPF. I’ve had the car for nearly 4 years and I love it. You’ll find a beautiful 296S for $100,000 less than MSRP. I would not allow this situation to take up any head space.

That might have worked in a newer dealership but it’s not enough if the dealership is well established with a big book of customers. Competition to climb up the ranks is fierce. This site with many people complaining Ferrari has lost their way, the new models suck, etc is not reality, in my opinion from what I can see. There are many buyers waiting eagerly to replace them. Buyers who can lose 100k or 200k on some models and not care. There are so many people out there passionate about Ferrari that want to improve their profiles and get special cars. Many VIP clients own 5+ Ferraris currently with deposits on a couple more, many TOP customers own 10+ Ferraris currently. And you need numbered cars to have weight on the profile. The cheapest numbered cars right now are 16M and Superamerica. If you want to build your profile you should get one or both of those. Did you do one Corsa Pilota class, or all 3?

The other way to climb the ranks is to race.

I never got a 296, I didn’t like the style I prefer the SF90. But I really like the 296 speciale I think it’s a big improvement and am super excited to get one. I think it will be an amazing car. I am getting one because I race. If you really want to move up the ranks you should consider doing Ferrari challenge. It is an awesome time, so much fun. And helps you qualify for the limited cars and early allocations. A win win. But it requires deep pockets and time commitment.

In my opinion, if you are not prepared to own 5+ Ferraris and/or do Ferrari Challenge, then it’s going to be hard to get allocations for limited models and will make more sense to focus on buying used. Because you are competing against other buyers who will do those things.

On a separate note, Ive been considering doing challenge. The numbers everyone throws around are kind of all over the place. Can you let me know a little bit more about the costs?

  11. Ryan, I am so sorry and dismayed to read about your travails.

It's like Ferrari is the corner street meth pusher, and you're the addict.

    Wrong on so many levels.

    You deserve so much better.

You really went in hard. Man, good luck. I mean it, but I gotta say Ferrari today is not the same anymore. Why don't you collect backwards, starting a 458 SA?

On the side note, would you let your daughter date a car salesman? Know what I mean?

I have to disagree, with every thing from Titanium springs through to heavily revised and improved aero that adds 100kg of down force and many other upgrades it is more than an option package . If you think you need a revised drive train I would say how much more power do you need to put through two wheels ?

If this is a marketing gimmick then perhaps any upgrade of any model that is not number limited , F80 etc , is then a marketing gimmick .

    Just my 2c worth!

This is good advice and lines up some of the things I’ve heard. I only did the one, they called me a few months ago about level 2 and I said no because I was still unsettled about the GTB situation. I’m not financially ready for current challenge racing but my salesman has recommended getting at least a used 488 Challenge several times, and I admit there was a time the prior GM really pushed a red 16M they had hard as a collection piece (I was skeptical at $355,000 at the time, yeah they’re over $500k now).

Not including the car, near 7 digits for a full season for everything. That includes 15-20 track days for learning and testing outside of the program. If you don't have a lot of race experience, I heavily suggest you get these track days, otherwise you will be in for a lot of repair $.

You are speaking the real truth here. As you allude to, the average top customer owns 15+ cars and is always buying.

You have to make Ferrari your priority, if you want Ferrari to make you their priority. There are more than enough customers that do.

I guess for our discussion to hold logically, do you know how much difference there is between STO and the regular Huracan. Start with the body and the degree of carbon fiber used for the panels will immediately contrast with the differences between 296 speciale and its regular sibling. I'm not just talking about the style alone.

The aero changes and carbon on the Speciale lose weight and add 100kg of down force at 250 km/h. The engine has been redesigned to lose 9 kg’s in weight. Total weight loss for the car is 60kg’s The extra boost from the electric motor has been harnessed to create faster shifts , the springs are titanium and the list goes on !

Nice. How much faster is the 296 Speciale than GTB? And is the braking system significantly upgraded for better power to weight ratio?

No, not because of any posts here. More obviously because of things that happened when it was brought to resolution, resentment for a having to address my situation. I am likely viewed as the bastard son at family events now.
