So, not quite but close. I paid $80k to FoW before taxes. They completed the major service on the car prior to me picking up, so I felt like I was getting the car itself for $53k (or at least that's what I told myself!) Frankly, I didn't feel as though FoW did a great job with the major, as they didn't replace the motor mounts which were badly sagging, which was causing a gear skipping issue with the F1. The subsequent $12k was for oil lines, coolant lines, motor mounts and a myriad of other things that I feel probably should have been addressed with the major. So; if that is where you were thinking about servicing your 355, you may choose to get a few more data points elsewhere before committing. Disclosed minor items aside, the buyer is getting an outrageously good driver. The 355 is a special car in EVERY form. I will miss it.
Thanks, was thinking that regarding the markets as I was anticipating the end of the auction! It did get a stronger number than I expected, given the Carfax ding. Being the incident was 7 years and 10k miles ago maybe the ding didn’t have as much effect as it otherwise would have, and credit to 1600 Veloce for an overall great presentation. I think it’ll be a good car for the buyer to start his first Ferrari adventure, pretty well sorted except for a few minor things. Thanks, Barry, I will for sure. I had a lot of good memories and adventures with that car over the past 7 years, likely there will be another Ferrari in my future…I’ve been into these things almost 40 years since I was 13, and that isn’t going away

Thinking about selling my Rosso Fiorano GTS if anyone is looking. I've barely driven it in the past year due to drama at home. Image Unavailable, Please Login
So whats driving the massive divide in values between Berlinettas, GTS and Spiders, with an almost 100% difference? especially between a spider and berlinetta; here in the uk at least. doesn’t seem to make any sense?!!
So tired of hearing that. I've had my spider for 13 years and the only top problem I've had was one time when I tried to operate it without the hand brake on. There is nothing in the records from new that indicate there ever was a top problem. Anyway, I'd much rather deal with a top problem than the cracking at the body/flying buttress seams that seems so common with the berlinettas. As for the lower values of spiders, I'm all for it. It translates to lower insurance costs and lower property tax if you live in an area that taxes cars. And the open air driving experience with the 355 engine screaming right behind you. Not to mention that the 355 spider is probably the best looking spider ever build. Image Unavailable, Please Login
I'd rather weld my buttresses back on every day rather than not have them at all. I guess that's why they make 3 different versions
For sure. And frankly, if they only made a GTS and a Berlinetta, I'd choose the B for it's purity of lines. That's the same reason I bought a 308 GTB rather than a GTS.
GTB / GTS 355 is the most beautiful car to me, purely from an automotive Aesthetic. Rolling art for sure. Absolutely nailed it. The spider is not bad either, when top is down, but top up is not pleasing to look at. To me, a targa top car is the way to go. The 355 does it very well. The GTB is incredible with FHP, seats and a gate. Automotive perfection to drive with the stiffness and feel. Maybe non-power steering is the ultimate missing link.
But that is the point of a spider. You don't drive them with the top up. The top is only there for protection and in case you are caught is bad weather, or when you park the car and leave it. Targa tops on any car just aren't my cup of tea. Kind of the inverse of what you said about spiders with the top up. Take the top off a GTS it destroys the lines of the car. Like I said, that why I bought my 308 GTB. But I never heard of anyone complaining about how these cars look wit the top up. Some day the 355 spider will get the respect it deserves. I wouldn't say that. It changes the lines of the car to something some kind of more aggressive, less fluid. In a world you get 2 cars. GTS is the best choice except if you want to go on track.
My thoughts exactly. I fell in love with the 355 back in 95 when I first saw one, then a year later seeing the spider variant made me put it on a "someday 4 sure" list. And the rumor of cracking buttresses had me putting Berlinettas on the bottom of my list. Values really don't scare or worry me, because all cars fluctuate up and down with the trends. Remember what Dino's were trading for 40 years ago?
My 355 Top works Great too. I just have to help the Secondaries due to the Elastic helper straps being Original. Middle Bar Push Up if the Top is Going Down. Pull Down if the Top is Going Up. Aside from that mild push on the Middle Bar it's Fully Automatic.
What about those of us who get sun burned blisters starting at 10 minutes into the drive ?!? {{My dermatologist wants me to get less than 1 hour of full Texas sunlight per YEAR.}}
