Based on your earlier post on the desirability of the 296 I suggest you are incorrect

    Silly comment.

A Dino was not a collectors car for decades and decades- then it went up 20 fold. Does a 6 cylinder 911 2RS not generate excitement?

There are numerous (too many to count) collectible 6 cylinder 911s.

This is one of the best performance road cars ever made and it’s beautiful. IMO- It’s appreciation will only increase with time (literally and figuratively).

I genuinely hope the car depreciates. I hope we get to a point where all cars from all manufacturers depreciate - just like they should

Then we can focus all conversations and arguments on the looks, the performance, the innovation, the competition, the specs, the wow factor.

Manufacturers (like Ferrari) created this culture of false scarcity to sell more cars. The consumer gets sucked into it with the illusion of exclusivity and thinking they're investments.

    Its quite pathetic really

I have never thought a car is an investment, if you do it would only be very rare cars

    Actually… It’s genius.

No idea, even if it’s 1000, that’s the same number of comp coupes built. Even if 1500, that’s a low number. If it’s 1 to 5, spider to coupe, that number could be very low. We don’t know what they have planned. Whatever it is, people will want one and not be able to get one.

I couldn’t care less about depreciation. As of today my 296 is showing nearly 2.4K miles since end of March with 39 delivery miles. Fully enjoying being the lucky owner of this magnificent machine. The young chaps quickly changing lanes with windows rolled down and thumbs up gestures is great too :)

  12. Sorry, cannot possibly disagree more.

With Porsche and ADMs, I know that if I pony up the $$$, I will get an allocation for a GT car.

With Ferrari, even if I want to pony up the $$$, the dealer (and to some extent Ferrari itself), will actually look down on my $$$ because they consider me not worthy.

    No thank you.

If you're going to bend me over, just tell me where and how low to bend.

I don't need to bend over, and then have you tell me, "ugh, sorry dude, your arse isn't worth spanking, next!"

Own Dino and heavy mod RSR - 6 cylinders are best looking / driving adventures one can imagine.
Dino's rich history -F1 used a modified Dino engine as the son of Enzo designe one of the most beautiful cars to ever leave the factory.
296 is a legit Ferrari as is VS - to say different has no basis.

Sorry, but I will have to disagree here. Loud and good exhaust note are 2 different things. I have both cars. My Pista has a Kline inconel exhaust with 100 cell cats. My 296 is stock and I much prefer the exhaust note on my 296. It just sounds better in every way. As a matter of fact, I hardly drive my Pista anymore. It will be sold once my Puro gets delivered. I was skeptical of the V6 before I ordered the car too. I've owned the 296 for a year now and I absolutely love how it drives and sounds. I can't wait to get the Speciale! I never judge a car without actually spending real drive time with it. If the design doesn't sing to you, I get it. That's very subjective and personal, but bashing a car without any experience with it is just short sighted IMO.

Yup, my point exactly. You can make a Pista fairly loud for a turbo engined car, but it lacks an identifiable pitch and tone center. That’s why I sold it and bought a 458 Speciale (have to specify which Speciale now).

I only took delivery last week so can't tell yet. As you know the GT3 only scream at high rpm and I have to do the run in period first.

Nevertheless sound wise, nothing beats my Tecnica :D

I've just started to spec my SpecA. It just keeps looking better and better. Disappointed that there's no option for black exhaust and hopefully that will change in time. I've even tried it with blu nart, white f80 rims and white stripe and numbered.. looks awesome!

Funny, to be "guaranteed" a VS, I was told to buy 296GTB which I did, place deposits on Purosangue and 12C coupe, which I did, take delivery of SF90, which I did, aside from already owning Portofino M, and having past ownership of California T, TM 812 GTS, and F8. Last thing I was told was the dealership is sorting out allocations. Now, being ghosted...considering Ferrari one and done exit plans. Maybe TM 12C Spider or TM 296M, after selling everything else and getting deposits back.

Some will like the subtle racier changes, some might prefer the more sleek base model. The one thing we can all agree on is that we would prefer if the VS wasn’t $100k-$150k more. Seeing essentially the same car side by side with a few go-faster bits, seems hard to justify.

I've also confirmed now from several dealers that they are holding some allocations back and will give those to people who will buy unsold 296 or SF90 inventory. I think that should pretty much tell you everything you need to know. So, buy a car that no one wants, that will depreciate likely $150K upon delivery, or no deal. I mean, it is all just business and hey, I would probably try the same thing if I were a dealer. Sometimes I actually tell people Ferrari only sells new cars at MSRP. No ADMs like Porsche. But that is just brilliant marketing because the reality is there is an ADM, it is just worse in some ways, because not only do you have to pay it, you have to pay it and deal with the hassle of selling that unwanted car, otherwise your ADM is even higher!

I actually like the looks of the 296 Speciale. It's exotic and different. I don't understand why Ferrari is making 2/3rd of them coupes when what people want are spiders. Especially with the 296. Historically I bought a 488 Pista or 458 Speciale coupe because the lines were a bit cleaner and you could see the beautiful engine on display. But in the 296, the cars are nearly identical (coupe and spider) and you can't see the engine. And it isn't even beautiful - no red cover. So now the only real reason for the coupe is serious track enthusiasts or if you dislike the two roof panels instead of one. Seems like a miss to me!

Lastly - the hybrid is just such a gamble long term. I had a LaF for a year and loved it. Never really knew it was a hybrid. Except for checking that battery charger every time I went to the garage. And you were always aware that at some point there would be a big cost to replace. But the LaF was limited to 500 and you knew it would appreciate. 296 Speciale? I'm just not so sure on that. Especially when we see how early we are in the hybrid stage for Ferrari.
