Bummer but yeah I was shocked you did anything to the exhaust without a tune. The F8 has o2 sensors like all other cars that can tell you went from 800 cel to 250 cel cats plus there are back pressure sensors too that can tell the back pressure is not the same anymore.
I know you know from other posts but you’ll need to tune the ECU to not recognize these changes but more importantly sense with after market free flowing exhaust the air fuel ratio definitely needs to be tuned for proper power and there are other parameters that need to be adjusted too.

To me that's always easier said than done. What... a couple of dudes with laptops, playing around with ignition timing, boost pressure and fuel injector pulse width/timing and other parameters. No thanks. No matter how good tuners say they are, and they all say they're the best. It's not the same thing as the resources and engineering of the factory.

A tuner ruined the cats on my Performante as they were coming apart (light disintegration) from too much fuel. It was engine out and an 80K repair bill when everything was all said and done. Luckily, I didn't have to pay for it because it was a CPO car and somehow Lamborghini missed the tune. They stepped right up and took care of everything because it was their mistake.

Just get the Novitec tectronic OBD plug in module and you should be good.

Nailed it...100%. It is so tempting to change out the exhaust on these cars but so far nothing I have seen really works really good. Very true, the factory has far more technology, resources to properly tune the car for optimal power but reliability as well.

I try to post my thoughts, experiences and little knowledge I have here. Your burnt up cats reminds me of a tune...popular tune company and a Tubi exhaust I did on a Porsche 997.2 Carrera S I did. Interesting thing was this was dealer installed to the car that was in stock and a show room car for sale brand new from the factory. The car ran great, sounded much better but the tune made the exhaust gasses so hot the welds on the exhaust system, especially the cats were coming apart. This happened after about a year and some track days. The cats ultimately were toast. Porsche denied warranty but since the dealer installed they only helped a little. We flashed the car back to stock and I put the stock exhaust back on and for 3 years and 10-15 track events a year I never had anymore issues. Hummmmm....!!!! ;-)

At the 12hr Sebring race that year Porsche held a tech session class for us Porsche Club racers and track event guys. Porsche sent over actual engineers from Germany. We discussed everything and ECU tunes, exhaust and such was a big topic. I spoke at length with an engineer and took him to lunch and I learned about these aftermarket tunes and exhaust. That days class plays a lot into why I do not mess with ECU's on these cars.

I had a 2021 and the novitec module worked well, but I was told it had issues on later years.

I sure hope so! I have the same set up incoming but with the Tectronic unit too.
UK importers say they’ve never seen an issue when used with a Tectronic and 250 cell cats.
Kinda shocked the dealer that sold Faider his setup didn’t insist on including a Tectronic. Removing the GPFs will definitely trigger a CEL without a tune or OBD device from what I’ve read.

I actually got my exhaust from a friend who sold his F8 a while ago so I didn’t go through a specific dealer. We ordered the tectronic and are installing this week. I ordered an X Pipe as well. Was hoping I wouldn’t need a tectronic like in my 812 but different setup. Was worth a shot. No go

Ah ok. I don’t understand what you mean by an X pipe though as the Novitec system is an X pipe one?
By the way, the 812 was always going to sound better, you’re very lucky to have both!

Yes you’re correct. I forgot that the novitec exhaust is already an X Pipe.

And I knew the 812 would always sound better but when you run them back to back, at least for me, the 812 is just a whole other animal

Yeah, one of the best engines ever made. How they can make a 6.5 litre V12 rev like a super bike and go to 9,500rpm is insane!

Did you fit the Tectronic yet, and if so did it clear the CEL?

I’m in Doha. They are dealing with Capristo who guarantees no CEL with their cats so they are running some tests first before installing the techtroonic..

Is the reason you picked the 250 cats because they told you no cell?

Would you swap to novitec 100 cats if you need to use the techtronic either way?

Just got back and I’m getting into it tmw. Will update after install but I would also give t a few days to see if it really is working. I didn’t get a CEL until about 48 hours after install of cats and exhaust.

Why would you all even do a catted and OPF system on a F8. For the price paid for EPA compliant cats it is going to sound very similar to stock

Installed the OBD and after a few days of driving, so far so good. No CEL or other issues to report back. Will take it out again at some point tmw but so far no issues and the sound is much stronger.

Have a novitec with 100cel sport cats and techtronic sitting in the garage my only hesitation is car has to get hooked up to obd smog inspection annually. If you don’t mind letting me know how quickly do you get the cel error after unplugging the techtronic. If it’s a couple of days than i should be good for inspection would hate to have uninstall the entire exhaust annually.

Yes will do it today. Cars been at the shop. Still throwing codes even with the OBD plug. Capristo says they are coming out with a new one next week and they guarantee it will kill all codes. Let’s see. I’ll post video later today

Sunset Blvd: Not the most ideal conditions for sound or really opening either car up but here are a couple of fly bys. I’ll include my 812 as well just for S__ts and Giggles. Will take some cold start and engine rev videos shortly
