What was the list you posted, just a bunch of early 308s? You may have stated it, just funny seeing my car on a somewhat random list.

It is a list of US 1980 308 GTBi and GTSi. The so called interim cars that supposedly only 40 or 50 or some such thing built.

I wonder why my 1980 GTSi #31735 is not on that list?

If you have the warranty book what dealer was it sold from as a new car? Also what is the 17 digit VIN?

Are you interested in all the 308 chassis numbers etc or the injected forward?

When I was at Fiorano I drove a couple of carbed 308's that even FML didn't have in their database. Want those?

I am really asking more for why his car is missing from the list.

FML has a great data base but it is based mostly on cars they have advertised or cars seen at shows etc. That leaves out a lot of cars. I have what is supposed to be a pretty comprehensive list of cars sold new, in the USA from MY 1980 through MY 2006. Not every "A" VIN will be on that list. Many USA versions are sold new in other parts of the world for various reasons.

Thanks for the reply. It is Rosso Corsa/Nero.
Thanks for the quick reply. It is Rosso Corsa over Nero. Vin#ZFFAA02AXA0031735 I don't know the original dealer but I believe the car was originally sold in NY.

I just stumbled upon this thread. Looks like its a little old but I'll chime in regardless. I own ZFFAA01A9A0033557 Rosso Corsa, Nero I'm trying to find any records that show this car was titled in the USA. Does anyone have any suggestions as to where I might look?

The VIN #ZFFAA01A9A0033557says YES it is for USA import so it would end up here...Below is the breakdown. You

    ZFF = Ferrari) A =3 liter for USA market) A = 3-point seat belt O1 = coupe A = Left had drive X = US assigned check code A = 1980 0 Maranello
    033557 = chassis number

Hope that helped you. If not email me [email protected]

Just discovered this older thread. I see my car (originally sold in the US, but now in Norway), is missing. The VIN is ZFFAA01A0A0032989 Yellow/Black. It fits the OP’s description in all ways apart from the wheels. The wheels on mine is the Campagnolo/Michelin TRX metric wheels.

If i'm not mistaken the TRX metric wheel was option on 1980 models and it was the standard on the 1981 models.

    Hi Doc,
Hope all is going well and, again, I want to thank all for efforts made...Still, there are conflicts and Misunderstandings that I continue to pursue. Quickly, I did a heavy refurbish as I love my car and decided to spend an amount higher than one would spend with the purpose was to sell. I decide to rebuild all mechanical, electrical, hydralics etc (no rotisserie) The car is staying in the family...I do want to know what differentiates the 24 coupes and 29 spiders from all others. If, at your leisure, I would like you to look at what got me wondering It is attached and all documents that caused me to pursue my original post were garnered from Ferrar
Chat as shown in the attachment. Enough for now. I tried to make a peace offering to rifledriver, but would have none of It.I am 88 and grew up honoring family name, character and keeping one's word. I felt he was challenging that which is important...So, here's the info for you to look over. Let me know your thoughts.
It was and is a pleasure to interact with you and I trust you feedback.
    John

    FERRARICHAT FORUM

    1980 FERRAIR 308 GTBi CONTROVERSY

Key point about my original post in FerrariChat

    · My original post date is June 30, 2023

    · The 24 GBTi unit count for 1980 was posted Dec. 10, 2005

    · The source is the Ferrari 308GTB Register

    · How could I have fabricated something after the fact?

    · Trace through the 3X8 forum to post date of Dec.10, 2005

Further indication of wrong numbers was provided by Brian A, the person who generated the study back then.

    http:www.ferrarichat.com/forum/308-328/412930-production-number-breakdown.html

Finally, a post made May 07, 2014 shows two locations that contain my chassis number in two serial number ranges

Serial Number Range Start End Number Produced

    20805-34329 Model GTB Jun-77 Aug-80 2,185
    #31371 doesn’t fit Mar-80
    31327-43059 Model GTBi July-80 Feb-83 494
    #31371 fits Mar-80
In closing the list comparisons show a +/- spread of about 100.
My totals of 1980 GTBi and 1980 GTSi = 53 units (24+ 29)…If these units were put
where they appear on the worksheets discussed there would be a 100 point
differentiation (add 53 to one group and subtract 53 from the other group provided by Brian A).

    Thanks ahead of time,

To those who followed this. I have attached the figures that started my search. As you can see, it was not invented or altered. The date was before my request for info, the Ferrari 308 GTB Register was the producer and apparently added the injected cars around the date on the data sheet (12/13/2006). This info was never doubted until I started my search for who had the 24 '80 GTBi models. I choose to use this sheet as it appears legitimate and did come from FerrariChat...Thank you all for efforts to date.

Hi, I do own one of the VINs listed. I was curious if it was a good idea to post my info online. I'm thinking about it.

    There were a little over 700 1980 GTBi's
    Just under 700 for 81 and probably over a 1000 for 82.

The commonly published production numbers are stunningly wrong.
