Is there a FAQ somewhere on wrapping a car? Is there some sort of universal color catalog? Can custom colors be ordered? What kind of resistance to chips and scratches does it provide by itself? Does one use clear bra with a wrap, and if so, under or over?

Bob do you really dislike your blue that much? This is one a few posts I've noticed that your thinking of a color change.

What color would you go with? I know you really liked that burgundy color on the Maser.

I think wraps are a great way to change your mind, I'll be doing the same on a '69 project I'm working on, and can't decide between two colors.

I contacted thaat new wrap sponsor Xpel... Never got a response.

    Good luck with your search

Actually I'm asking thinking about the Maser at this point. I'm intrigued by the concept. My new Maser has colors I like, my perfect interior, but I can see changing the exterior color every year or two for fun. Re the 612, I like blue over tan. Second car I've had in that combo, but not my favorite. What I'm thinking down the road, year or two if I'm still s 612 guy is look for an OTO with my perfect interior and wrap whatever exterior I want over the boring silver or black I'm bound to find it in. So I'm looking to get educated on the subject in general. I have an issue with changing cars. If I can just change exterior colors occasionally, that might be fun.

It's not long lasting. Plus, in my experience, it doesn't hold up well it direct sunlight. At 92 degrees its got tacky. After reading a thread on PD wheel applications, I tried it on some parts for a new product line we are developing. We then put these parts in the sun to see how it responded to modest heat. They became sticky. I can only imagine what would happen on the trunk of the car.

Bob did you contact the new Fchat sponsor Xpel?

I’m reviving this thread to get a primer on wraps. I’ve never had a car wrapped so I have no idea about pros and cons, unintended consequences, effects on resale values, etc. Since I’m looking for a used car (not a Ferrari) it would greatly expand the field of cars if I knew I could change colors. NIf you’ve done it I’d value hearing about your experience. Thanks.

I had a white wrap on my 2010 Cali that is really Argento Nurburgring in color. It was at least 5 years old but I couldn’t find the installer for verification . It was starting to peel so I had it removed. Unfortunately, it peeled up some clear coat in some spots and actual paint in others. It’s not down to bare metal but I am looking at a full paint job. Not looking forward to that bill.

Thanks, Jason. I wonder if your unfortunate experience is typical when wrap is removed or if it may have been due to a poor installation.

According to the place that removed it, they stated the wrap was installed correctly but the paint was not…

I had the guys plstidip some wheels many years ago to see what colour centres I should go with on chrome barrels.

It did not last very long and if I had been away on a trip with it letting go , it would have been more embarrassing than sqeaky brakes
