296 Replacement (M?)

Hard to imagine the 296 receiving any significant improvement. It’s darn near perfect.

 

Personally I don’t like the front I find it too simple and round but that’s only my opinion of course

Because F8 was not a 488M, it was a stop-gap solution (basically putting the VS engine in the base car) due to the delay of the hybrid next generation.
In normal situations the next model car has always had more power than the previous VS: F430 compared to the 360 CS, 458 compared to the 430 Scuderia (in this case, it's not a "M" situation though), 488 compared to the 458 Speciale... It's even the same for the V12, with the 599 having more power than the 575M and the 812 having more power than the F12 TdF.

 

Wishful thinking IMO... Every model including the F80 uses the haptic touch screens. It's far too early to reverse course.

 

Didn't they just go to physical buttons on the wheel for both F80 and 296S/SA? I'd expect every new model to get the updated wheel from here on out.

Keen on the answer to this question as well, since I'm still waiting for my build slot. They said it's likely to come in July. I'd rather wait for a 26 if it's an option, especially if they go back to buttons on the wheel...

florida local dealer says first deliveries of speciale in early to mid 2026 so the replacement would have to be at least 3 years away. i expect GTB used prices will go up soon since it will be out of production and the speciale will be much more expensive and not availabe for most.

 

There's a simple math to be done though - Ferrari will not reduce production, so either (God forbid) the 296 Speciale will be highly available, or the "regular" 296 will continue to be produced concurrently. In this second case, the GTB will actually become easy to get new, since it will have been "old news" for a while - then there will be no reason for used cars prices to go up.
Currently Ferrari probably could maintain the illusion that all the regular 296 are already sold, but that's more due to the fact that everybody orders in early production stages in the hope of getting a car soon; those who succeeded have already moved on and those having failed will probably be less interested in a car nearing the end of production (when many new releases are offered) - many will be very happy to leave their spot to buyers still interested (who will not have to switch their interest to the used martket, unless they look for a lower price).

 

no. GTB prod is done and GTS is closing up. dealer told me anyway. this isnt vw. small factory. they retool over for the new one. i think its going to balance out and the speciale will make the 296 even more desirable. first del of the speciale in early 2026 makes sense. new car has to be at least 2.5 yrs out. they will have to retool the line for the replacement once the speciale is done. its not a huge factory. the way i see it the speciale will be a 500-600k car. my 430k AF car with CF wheels is worth at least 330 now, but will not drop any further in the next 18-24 months. a simple 2025 carrera 4s can reach 200k fully loaded lol.

i've taken the hit but it aint going to be hit any further unless i put 100k miles on it.

this car is a great buy for those who got an original order and had the chance to enjoy for 3 years while most others bought used to save 25% but have the car 50% less time lol.

 

The question remains though, if they only produce 296 Speciale and Speciale A, what will they sell instead of the regular 296 to maintain the production volume ?
The 458 Speciale was introduced in 2013 and the 488 in 2015; the many available 2014 and 2015 used 458 Italia and spider are evidencing the fact that they continued to be produced right until the introduction of the 488. And the 458 Speciale was still produced when the first 488 were delivered (the 488 GTB and Spider also continued to be manufactured and delivered during the Pista production).
I do not see any reason for things to be different now with the 296 (GTB/GTS) and 296 Speciale; I have no idea were the market will go for used 296s, but claiming it will stabilise or go up based on a questionable assumption does not convince me (not that it really matters, btw).
