If selling a CA car out of state no valid smog emissions certificate is needed. It’s up to the buyer in the other state to register the car and follow their own states emissions testing rules which will differ state to state.

Exactly this, if theres a deal like this in the EU i would be all over it, buy it and figure it out down the line, in worst case its a real basketcase and costs toooo much to get it ready again, if you part it out you will with 90% certainty make your money back.... and have a good story and adventure to talk about in the future :)

Update - car was picked up and getting worked on now. Ball joints installed today and removed Recaro seat and roll bar. Third brake light issue with striker plate on truck missing so 3rd brake light doesn’t kick on. No insight on part cost they are researching that. Any insight from anyone here??? See photos attached. Looks like small striker plate piece that completes the ground circuit for the 3rd light is missing.

I think your right. That metal piece on your picture looks to be missing completely. Which would make sense as the metal acts as the ground for these to complete the circuit. Will send this over to shop in the morning. Many thanks

And just like that... she's home! and what a joy to drive she is. Passed smog with flying colors, working on getting the hang of this immobilizer button but overall wow, such a joy. Spent a week and a half at the local shop which did a laundry list of little items including removing the racing Recaro seat - if anyone wants it?, steering wheel, engine mounts, service, smogged, ball joints, alarm serviced, third break light/trunk, a couple other items, $5k later she looks great.

She may not be the prettiest, she definitely needs a bath, and I would love to add shields (if anyone still does those), but wow what a car!

I have a car with fake shields that I’ve been too chicken to pull off (for fear of pulling paint). I’d leave them off. No shields ftw.

congrats on the purchase. Full send on a cheap Ferrari is the best…been there…

Very nice. Don't worry about adding stickers to the fenders, the 360 has enough horses on it from the factory. That's a nice subtle ride that won't gather unwanted attention.

Congrats on your first Ferrari! Now go find your local club and have some fun.

Nice! Congrats on the score. Passing smog makes this a killer deal. And don’t worry about the shields. Embrace the clean lines and know you’ll be the one with the more rare option (or lack of in this case).

Seems you made the same assumption as I did...

    https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/posts/150113181/

    It's actually a power contact.

It would be difficult to short this contact to ground whilst simultaneously pushing the brake pedal (causing the fuse to blow)... but stranger things have happened :D

    Love this story.

I might get roasted for this but I’m a fan of no shields and sought my car out because it didn’t have them. Just my thoughts.

The purists insist on no shields (unless you actually have the fender depressions for them)

yes lots of people reaching out. Send me DM and I can send you photos from my shop -

    From my shop -
Seat that came out yes but it was crazy how bad it was installed... almost no thread on the bolts -
no rails just a home made plate with no possible adjustment

Hahaha - I had to call my seller to ask why the car wouldn't start after driving it into my driveway from the delivery van!
