Good afternoon folks. I'm in the fortunate position to be looking after a couple of 360 Challenge cars for a family member and am preparing them for a track event in a couple of weeks time.

I have a spare set of Challenge (18") wheels, that I will fit with trackday rubber, in the event that we have poor weather, but wanted to confirm the original size of the slicks fitted, so that I can get as close a match as possible. The official Ferrari website suggests that they were 235/645/18 on the front and 295/645/18 on the rear, yet searches on this forum suggest numerous other sizes being used, however, my (very experienced) track tyre supplier suggested that the rear size doesn't look right to him and he would be very surprised if it wasn't a bigger circumference.

Can anyone confirm the original sizes please and also any comments on suitable road tyre sizes that are known to work.

Based on the Ferrari website I'd be looking at 235/40/28 & 275/35/18 to keep to the original 645 circumference.

    Any thoughts?

I've managed to find a set of regs from 2005, which states:

    Front slick tyres 235/645 - 18"
    Rear slick tyres 295/680 - 18"

Front rain tyres Pzero 215/45 ZR 18"
Rear rain tyres Pzero 275/40 ZR 18"

Therefore, based on this I'm going to run 225/40/18 and 275/40/18.

It'd be good if Ferrari's website was correct wouldn't it...

I posted this in another thread too. Below is what I have used on my 360C. I can confirm they do fit on the 18" Challenge wheels and they do fit in the wheel wells without rubbing on turning or compression.

I never looked it up, but it seems that the Yokohamas I had used might be original spec based on your first post. I think your tire supplier is correct...the rears should be 680, not 645.

    Tires I've used:

    Yokohama - slick
    240/640 R18 front
    280/680 R18 rear

Pirelli - slick and wet (I use the racing full wet tires, not intermediates, not street tires)
    Front: 245/645 18
    Rear: 305/680 18

*FYI, personally, I liked the smaller Yokohamas better...not sure if it's because of tire size and/or manufacturer, although I suspect it's due to the size since those are likely original spec.

    Hope this helps,
    Bill
