Hello Everyone, Saturday, August 16, is our Concorso Italiano 40th Anniversary celebration. YES! As one of the original three events that have now morphed into several dozen, known as "Monterey Car Week," Concorso Italiano has been on the Peninsula for FOUR decades, originally as a private gathering of Maserati, Ferrari, and other Italian car club members in town for the Concours and Historics. We're hoping to see everyone on the show field who has been a part of this incredible event for years, to catch up with old friends, and make some new ones, while celebrating Italian design and style. New this year, our new owners are launching "The Paddock" one day prior on Friday, August 15, in the very same location on the fairways at Bayonet Black Horse. This is a multi-marque event open to all makes and models, and Ferraris are more than welcome to register. If you're all driving up to Monterey together, why not get a private cabana with your own food and bar service?! ([email protected]) This event is held later in the day on Friday from 3 PM to 8 PM. It's not easy to find a seat or get a reservation at restaurants on Friday evening in Monterey. Why not hang out at The Paddock for food, drinks, and fun? ***If you like, you can register for both days, keep your vehicle overnight with full security, and have it in place in the morning for Concorso Italiano, which is held from 10 AM to 4 PM.*** Tickets and Registration are at their lowest right now but will increase. The Paddock: www.thepaddockmonterey.com Concorso Italiano: www.Concorso.com We look forward to seeing everyone out on the fairways of Bayonet Black Horse in August. Ciao, Cindy PS YES! I'm THAT Cindy, who launched the public Concorso Italiano at The Quail three decades ago for Frank Mandarano! Circling back to my early January post about doing a drive from Redondo Beach to Monterey. The plan is to use mostly coastline roads to take advantage of the scenery and caravan some great cars up for car week. I believe the consensus is still to leave Tuesday to drive up with an overnight in San Luis Obispo. Anyone interested in joining in should post or PM me. We have a number of guys bringing some great cars so it should be a great time. I’d like to block out a hotel that has proper accommodations for our cars (and us), plus figuring out some support for us in the event there’s mechanical issues. It’ll be August before we know it so let’s get things ironed out enough in advance that options aren’t limited.
I'd love to make it. But wife has me talked, or whatever, into an Alaskan cruise around Labor Day. Maybe someday, further up the road.
Too bad, Dale. We’ve got some really good guys and cool cars participating. Keep your schedule open for FCA meet in NC this fall though. I’m sure there will be some caravans heading that way and beautiful back roads to drive in the area too.
Hi all, Is there an online schedule of races for the Monterey Historics (or whatever it is called; sorry, it's been awhile since my last visit!) ? Am specifically wondering what groups are running on the Saturday. Thanks! (this was me in one of my parent's cars, back in 1985 or so). Image Unavailable, Please Login
It’ll be much more fun than just shipping cars out for the week to incorporate a bucket list type drive with it.
Right now my plan is to drive the car (or ship it across the desert) to Fast Cars in Redondo Beach, then drive in a caravan up Hwy 1 to Monterey stopping overnight midway. To me the drive is more of the adventure than being there.
