@Auraraptor thanks for sharing @Chupacabra that’s a comical range….with the engine issue even at $35k shouldn’t that be about the top? This is what the DDE guys should have used when they built their Racecar. I hope @Clyde Romero got a reasonable amount when he sold it and I enjoy following his thread for the next adventure.
I've been busy and haven't kept up on a few of the BaT/C&B results. I thought these two cars were interesting given the results and I'll do the "BaT Alumni" Rosso/C first. That car sold on BaT and now was listed with a very low RNM result on C&B. The counterpoint to that low result will be the other R/C 550 that sold on BaT with VERY low miles and a somewhat surprisingly high hammer number.....on to the stats..... December 2022 this car sold on BaT for $225 and the original synopsis can be seen here..... +) https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/posts/148925298/ This was clearly a dissapointment for what seems to be a very nice example. THIS TIME IT WAS AUCTIONED ON CARS & BIDS 3/21/25 a 2000 550 RNM $140,000 with 16,930 up from last auction at 16,774 miles -- out of Austin TX this time around. +) ZFFZS49A6Y0119575 and Assembly 36605 -- original wheels included with the auction. Owner received a watch with sale last time as noted in historical post +) Rosso Corsa over beige - seller bought on BaT and put very few miles on the car +) Contrasting Daytonas, quilted shelf, shields, ferrari car cover, alpine stereo +) Novitec "crowd favorites" and also included the original OEM wheels +) From the prior BaT auction: timing-belt service May 2022, when interior buttons and switches were refinished. EDIT "no expense" $26k spent. +) From the original BaT auction: A Fuchs exhaust system has been added. +) Windshield had a chip repair (not sight line) - driver bolster normal wear - A/C noted needing a recharge. +) one clone fob with leather holder +) 119575 +) Auction link this time around can be seen here. https://carsandbids.com/auctions/35MQ7oPZ/2000-ferrari-550-maranello?ss_id=3267dfa6-7f6f-4078-bd29-3ad5cf14396b&ref=pr_1_1 NOW ON TO WHAT IS QUITE STRANGE......I kinda get it....guys want as low total miles as possible....?......#garagequeen? LAST TIME....back on 10/9/20 I didn't spend much time on the BaT auction result (nothing special other than low miles).... https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/posts/147511369/ SOLD $154,009 on 10/9/20 ZFFZR49A2V0109665 +) 550 MANUAL Ser no. 109665 +) 1997 with 5,652 miles (no change from 7/2020 +) East Amhurst, NY +) Rosso Corsa over tan +) https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1997-ferrari-550-maranello-10-2/ +) https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/threads/550-maranello-registry-created.576583/page-3#post-146828833 PRIOR to the October 2020 auction it had an "original BaT" result of SOLD but the buyer FLAKED for a "NO SALE" at $156,000 on 7/20/20 and 5,652 miles https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1997-ferrari-550-maranello-10/ Just goes to show....you get a few of the right guys in the room and look what happens...... 3/21/25 a 2000 550 SOLD AT A SHOCKING $250,000 with 6,423 miles -- out of North Salem NY this time around. I say shocking due to price & at the beginning of the auction it was noted that the right nostril had taken a "nudge" since the last sale and was clearly damaged. +) ZFFZR49A2V0109665 and Assembly 26813 +) Rosso Corsa over beige - ZERO OPTION CAR? +) Buyer uses the handle itwip52 and had never not once commented on any auction and this was his first win and registered 2/2025...... +) JohnnyRay and others had discussed this car over on this thread below and noted it needed dash work as well. +) https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/posts/150052395/ +) 109665 Anyone want to wager a cup of coffee the result here is going to be like the SOLD but NOT CLOSED which happened on 7/20/20 for this car...... I'd say something smells bad but the running up bidder is a seemingly very legit guy who was at $240k "Mike47". An interesting pair of results.....the first one on C&B should have gone higher and this one on BaT should have gone WAY lower.....YMMV.....
Terry I assume a typo above, I had recalled you mentioned historically the Scaglietti options were end ‘97 or early ‘98?
I’ve had “Scaglietti” on my brain because my mechanic has a client with a 2007 612 for sale with the exhaust and carbon brakes but my wife says I already have too many toys….
Now live on BAT this 575 Manual transmission that looks very very nice https://bringatrailer.com/listing/2004-ferrari-575m-maranello-23/
Curious if anyone else noticed the 1999 355 conversion that sold for $164,xxx before fees a few weeks ago? That’s actually right in the range of a factory manual car, scanning other results. I went through the service docs provided but did not see an invoice for parts. So I’m assuming they must have been factory but it appears some things had to be modified or fabricated. Just an interesting result, IMO.
There are tons of manual F355s out there. Seems like the only reason to convert would be if you loved your F355 and planned to keep it forever.
I’m assuming they bought for a low F1 price then spent ~$35 K to convert, which put them under a factory premium. I think the conversion was done in ‘22, and at that time the manual 355s were over $200k, IIRC.
I've been "agitated" because my 550 still isn't in my garage.....as a result I've just been skipping posting on this thread.....there are a couple right now tho that I'll chase..... One interesting move happened on this 2002 575 today with a sizable jump to what I would have thought was above market..... https://bringatrailer.com/listing/2002-ferrari-575m-maranello-46/?utm_source=Iterable&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=campaign_2648441#comments-anchor Guess we can see how this one ends and I'll follow up then with a breakdown. There is also a R/C 550 thats back on BaT for the 3rd time....I'll tackle that one when it hammers in 6 days as well since it has an "BaT history".
It does seem strange ...the bids increased by 40k in one bid ..Maybe he really likes that color Definitely not market correct But what is market ? Lol...whatever one pays .
It’s just ridiculous….may 2nd was a year. when I do get it back I’m going to do a 200 mile driving day just to make sure I don’t get any more CEL’s
A year?!! Dude, that stinks. I have to say, I’m a sucker for black and tan. That car looks sharp, I would pay that if I were in the market ( and everything checked out of course).
Wow, just revisiting this thread from a long break... A year that's crazy. Sorry I don't recall, what work are you having done / waiting on parts? I haven't driven mine in a few weeks, problem in LA is that so many of the great easy drives are no longer accessible post fires. Can't do PCH / Malibu (unless you lost a house there and have a permit) etc... Without a nice road, what's the point of sitting in traffic regardless of the car? San Diego / San Clemente are great if you point south, but that's more of a full day trip or overnight. Any more local suggestions welcome!
I think the jump today was color envy or the like; or…. It could be a ‘friend’ jumping the number up for the seller… but probably not.. It’s a gorgeous car but the 40k jump in one day is a little out of character, but who are we to judge. I’m sticking with manuals! Car show tomorrow at Innisbrook golf country club in Tampa - bringing the 456! I’ll send some pics!
It IS BAT, after all. Logic is often absent or ignored. That said, I’m sticking to my assessment, that color combo on that shape is fire
Today we saw the black 2002 575 on BaT hammer....following up the post I had shown above.....the 575 market continues to be "interesting"..... https://bringatrailer.com/listing/2002-ferrari-575m-maranello-46/?utm_source=Iterable&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=campaign_2648441#comments-anchor The hammer price for this specific moment in time felt like "beyond full money". given it was a 2002 and where 550's are at.....no question 575's are undervalued but my personal thought is still 'full money"....that being said, I do love this color combo..... The team at Macchina Motorwerx (MMW) had helped @dhalperin13 get his 575 conversion sorted and they were the 2nd highest bidder....that should tell all of us what they think about 575's being under valued. It should be noted that MMW's bid at $87k was the start of the brawl between them and the ultimate winner @rrubano up to $136k.... it's interesting....if one of them had not "been in the room" I would have liked to see the result. Would have been good to see a third person in there..... its not uncommon for someone to join BaT just to bid and win a car so I hope whoever rrubano is completes the transaction. Higher values for all of us is good..... 5/15/25 a 2002 575 SOLD $136,000 with 16,942 miles -- out of Newbury Park, CA with a Missouri title, (listed by BaT powerbroker @Wob ). +) ZFFBV55A320129976 and Assembly 46984 +) Nero DS over "brown" aka "natural" +) Material recent investment in service...."Work in May 2024 involved a timing belt service and replacing the battery, battery heat shield, air filter, spark plugs, and water pump seals in addition to flushing the coolant and changing the oil". +) listing noted "paintwork was performed on the spoiler and that one of the bumpers was repaired before paint protection film was applied in May 2024". +) listing noted "Loose upholstery is evident on the dash and door panels." Other than the airbag it didn't look terrible. Drivers seat looked lightly used. +) Daytonas, Standard OEM wheels, red calipers, no shields, aftermarket Pioneer head unit (original included with sale) +) two black fob's -- no one asked about the red master during the auction. +) red car cover, tool kit, trickle charger, gray "spare tire spray" +) https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/posts/138756434/ +) 129976 I really like how BaT draws the crowd and we had a comment from @Zonian65 that noted he owned this car for 18 years (up to 2022). p.s. when I do get my 550 back from the mechanic I'll share an update. I haven't harassed my mechanic this week because I'm coaching a softball double header saturday and then coaching soccer sunday so if I even had the car it would be sitting.....
