However, having brought the Autodromo Internazionale Enzo e Dino Ferrari back on the F1 calendar due to COVID-related reasons in 2020, the promoters are now working hard to make the race a permanent affair on the calendar. Michele de Pascale, the president of the Emilia-Romagna region, said there is a “strong interest” in keeping F1 at Imola next year, adding he doesn’t see a problem in Italy hosting two races on the calendar. "For the institutions, it is not a question of budget,” he was quoted by the Gazette. "There is a strong interest in continuing. Negotiations have been underway for some time. Monza does not prevent Imola from being there". Even the Republic of San Marino is involved in Imola’s bid to secure a new contract with F1. With three races in the US, what is wrong with two in Italy? There is more motor racing tradition in Europe than in China or the mid-East. We could dump all the Asia races except Japan and that would be great.
Would it be legal and acceptable for SF to race in Imola with last year's car? Im sure it is parked indoors somewhere in Maranello...who knows...it may bring a podium!
I don't blame Liberty for giving 3 GPs in the US, since it's a large audience and the promoters can afford it. What I have an issue with is that 2 of them are street races.
Not even sure we can call those races. More of a speed exhibition to promote other non race entities...with lots of costume changes and light shows.
