My low beam has gone out, and the manual says I have to go to the dealer to replace the bulb. I know it is a high voltage xenon one, but is it not possible to source it and change it myself? Anyone done this? What is a good source for the bulb?

Remove the front wheel (or turn all the way to the inside) and there is a plastic cover on the front of the fender liner where you'd expect the back of the headlight to be. Remove the cover and you should see the back of headlight assembly where you can R&R the bulbs. Don't touch the glass part of the bulb when re-installing.

As for a source, check out ebay. You'll be looking for a Philips D2S 4300k bulb. Might want to buy two and replace both at the same time just in the event the color is slightly different from your other original bulb. They're relatively cheap anyhow ($50-ish for two) and you'll likely never need to replace them again.

Yes, the instructions in the manual give the same access procedure that you mention for the main beam bulbs, but they don't want you changing the low beams for some reason. The usual Ferrari parts suppliers want $200 or more for the bulb - have you done this OK with the Phillips one you referenced?

That reason is they make more money when you take it in for service. There's plenty of things I'd have the dealer do over fiddling with myself, but a bulb isn't one of them.

Yes, I replaced my bulbs with the Philips. A bulb is a bulb. Whether you pay $200 per from Ferrari or $50 for the pair online, the bulb will perform the same.

    You can do it!

I changed the bulb today, a standard Philips D2S part number 85122. $50 from Amazon, much better than the Ferrari price!

For others doing this, make sure the cutout in the bulb goes straight up (12 o'clock), and the power lead comes in the from the opposite side (6 o'clock). Getting the securing rim fitted in the right place can be tricky, so fit it on without the bulb first and put a dab of paint at 3 o'clock (passenger side). Otherwise it can be tricky holding the bulb in the right place while trying to get the securing rim in the right place too. Probably easier if up on a ramp with the wheel off, but quite manageable with the wheel on full lock.

Mine had a small plastic sleeve in the bottom of the red power connector. This made it very hard to get the old bulb out (I had to use a bit of WD-40 and some needle-nosed pliers to get it out). Similarly tight getting the new bulb in, so I took the sleeve out and the bulb snapped in nicely.

    Thanks for the help.

i assume this access panel will also work for changing the high beams too right?

I got it done. Thanks to all the advice. I would add some detail to the actual bulb and socket removal.
Disconnect the lead from the bulb by turning an 1/8 turn.
Remove the bulb retaining "ring" turning the retaining assembly 1/8 turn. It's a tough turn.
Remove the bulb. Note there is a square "peg" at the 12 oclock and a smaller round peg about 130. These are the keys to getting the new bulb back in. I tried it with the old bulb a couple of times to see how it fit.
Now the tough part...you can't assemble the bulb + retaining ring + power lead and then try to insert it...wasted an hour.

Place the bulb into it's place engaging the square and round pegs. With one finger hold the bulb there while you fit the retaining ring over it. Hold tight on that bulb it must stay engaged.
The three catches on that ring will engage the housing ONLY if that bulb stays in place.
Once the ring fits home rotate it back 1/8 turn to lock.
Now reconnect the power lead, similar locking peg, press hard and turn to lock.

I hope this helps the next person. Honestly I thought I change out the other one but I'll wait until I have to. :)
