Well after about 9 months of waiting for a wiring harness we are about to pull the plug on our order. One of our techs is a wiring expert that does our current harness and wiring work. He is formally trained by the US army in wiring and has worked for a top tier military supplier making cable assemblies.

As of now we are tooling up to reproduce the current harness and fuse box. Is there anyone interested in purchasing duplicate harnesses? If so please pm or email me. If we put in a fairly large supply order this will help everyone reduce pricing.

There are about six or seven versions of the harness, at least three for non-us cars and three for us cars from what i remember. Main differences are the ignition, alternator/regulator/gen light, sidelights, relays and air condition. LHD and RHD are probably also different but i haven't checked out any RHD harnesses yet. Wire colors do not seem to be consistent within the versions but that is not a big issue as long as one defines a standard for the replica harness.
Terminals are readily available as are the AMP housings, but the color housings for the single female spade connectors are out of production for a long time now, except black and transparent.

Good to hear your wiring guy is a pro, so he won't solder on crimp terminals as a german parts supplier for the Dino does...

I just received my new wiring harness from Rhode Island Wiring. When we disassembled 03872 all the wiring was fished back to the fuse block without cutting any conductors. Mark at Rhode Island wiring produced a fabulous new harness using my original. It took about 7 months at $5750 US.
The striped wiring on my car had a spiral pattern which we duplicated for all colors by having custom wiring made. There is a lot left. Mark produced a hand drawn wiring diagram that we hope to draw as a formal document.

Mark is one who under promises and over delivers! I recommend him.

that`s depending whether the parking light was installed in the front indicator (generally) or in the head lights (e.g. German delivery)

There are differences in the wiring looms and in how they are wired up (but are still identical looms). I have worked on at least five to six different looms but i don't think that there are 10 looms only for european cars.

My point was that from a business perspective it might make more sense to rebuild individual wiring looms when one is required instead of reproducing all the different variants to make sure they fit to each application. It would be possible to produce a single 'superset' loom for EU cars and one for US cars which contains all the required wires for all versions, and then you just ignore the ones you don't need on your specific wiring.

    Hi ,
Can you please help :- .
I’ve found this old thread and would like to try and source sim Spiral Trace wires for a rewire project .

Please see the old fuse box wiring … oxidised conductors, brittle pvc etc …I’m after the OEM spec wire … is it still available ? I noticed Mark mentioned at Rhode Island Wiring .. I’m in the UK and currently sourcing parts this end .

    Kindest regards

    Derrick

I got these from Rhode Island wire mentioned earlier in this thread, under supplies you can see all the different wire/trace options.
You should probably figure out what gauge wire you need (looks like 16) and lengths then give them a call to discuss.
