Well we can’t blame them for being bold with a brand new car.
Problem is that the technical team isn’t able to do it properly..

One of my all time fav movies. I actually had my own Ferrari parked in that famous glass house. True story.

We can blame them because they were challenging and winning in 2024 and they could have simply kept the basics of that car rather than changing the entire thing. Pull rod front, etc etc.

Maybe so but when it comes to personalities Vasseur is in a different league. OK you could argue that being a nice guy doesn't make a winning team, but I know who I'd prefer to work with.

    That's a matter of opportunity.
Of what ingredients you have as a team under your control as team manager.

Remove Newey from the red bull past and see if Christian is really better than Frederic.

    Nope.

In comparison who is to say what Charles or Fernando would have achieved in the seat of Sir Loulou at Merc?

No matter how bad the RB is this year, it is light years better than the Ferrari. Vasseur leads a team of lap dogs who don't even understand why they are losers...including their drivers. Mercedes is the big dog in the house, going back to the beginning of the automobile. It is their culture. They are in it to win, and they have all the elements necessary. The big question is how much longer they decide the sport is relevant to them. AM is just a brand name that Stroll slapped on the side of the car. Alonzo, more than anyone, knows that his time has passed. He just wants to go out with style and with his head up. Horner and Newey built RB around Vettle, and then rebuilt it again around Max. They have a ton of championships for their efforts, but the team is now fragmenting. And McLaren is claiming its time in the sun. All the rest of the teams are cannon fodder for the circus. And like the Roman empire, F1 is starting to collapse under the weight of its excesses and vulgarities. Liberty will milk it and then dump it. F1 is in the beginning of its death spiral.

Apologies for the thread hijack in advance:
About 15 years ago the famous house was for sale and the realtor contacted me to have a Ferrari party on site to stimulate some business. It was a great turn out and we took turns putting our cars into the famous "garage". Being all glass walls, the house is a challenge to heat and cool and they were looking for big $. I believe it sold eventually but for far less than the original asking. Image Unavailable, Please Login

Horner makes mistakes but he’s proactive whereas Vasseur appears to be relatively passive, barely even reactive. Horner has been able to survive…even thrive….while surrounded by powerful personalities with competing interests like Jos and Marko, not to mention Max himself. I’d prefer Fred as a friend, but Horner as an executive, even with the drama.

Regardless of his personality, Christian Horner has been the best team principal of the last 15 years, with Toto Wolff close second.
No wonder they are fierce rivals !

You are missing some major information Jack.
At Ferrari there was a very bad culture of fear in staff, of not standing out, one where initiative was a no no in case you would get scolded or fired. Sclerosis.

The worst was the Arrivabene period, he would even try to intimidate journalists whose questions he disliked, a popular bully mode elsewhere nowadays alas.

Fred worked from very early on to empower each staff member to take initiatives to offer ideas to go forward.

He held countless meetings, the whole staff together and also one on one.

That has been a huge, deep, very positive, liberating change.

He is a brilliant team captain and I fully trust him to succeed in a major way.

The current problem, apart of course of ageing Sir Loulou not performing, is the recent design department hires.

No matter how capable Horner is or would be at Ferrari, the irony is that replacing Vasseur would just perpetuate the lack of stability that's one of the major issues at Ferrari's F1 team.
Regarding Horner's (or Newey's, or Marko's) track of record at Red Bull, I think Mateschitzs's role is too often overlooked - no doubt there were good individuals in the team but one part of the magic was to have them working as a team.

Stability or success: Usually they accompany each other. In this case they seem to be mutually exclusive

I predict Horner to Red Bull. They have gone through slumps before and come out on top. They are not the Williams of old, they have money and investment and their design team are not dummies. Plus a new engine in the wings.

I said back in 2023 FV is not the person to take control of the SF F! team. A brief momentary rise in fortunes after getting rid of some useless articles but now they are walking backwards. He has made some wrong choices especially with the direction of the current car, he is team principal and is ultimately responsible. Having said all of that, who else?

Unfortunately there is no easy fix and Horner wouldnt make a scrap of difference to the team as a whole. Although the workforce are undoubtebly skilful, the top management is typical Italian...chaotic.

Not gonna happen, and it won't make any difference. Ferrari's damage is just way to deep to replace it with your team principal.

Vettel would be a good option for either Ferrari or indeed to replace Horner at Red Bull. Highly analytical, very well respected (especially at Red Bull), fantastic understanding of racing, team structure, the racing drivers' brain and was extremely relatable to mechanics too.

I have a feeling Vettel doesn't want anything to do with Ferrari's dumpster fire of an organization.
