Different perspectives aside I think we both want the event to be a success. The more options we have as enthusiasts the better.

It really is amazing just how many events take place here in that timeframe. Off the top of my head we have Cavallino, Miami Design District, Motorcar Cavalcade, Dana Point Concourse, Moda, Rufwelt, Cars on Fifth, Boca Raton Concourse.

We also have other monthly cars and coffees at various dealers, the Hard Rock, Mizner and the Boca tech center. Lol, there are so many I probably left a bunch out! :D

We have more options than ever before which is great for us and helps create future gearheads. Even better, many are free.

you are still missing the point I have your perspective personally, but I still see theirs. :D I really missed out not going to the Cavallino track events back in the day, Monterey in 2004 my highlight was watching double digits of 250 GTO's going down the corkscrew.

I think most of the events are killing it, supposedly the problem with Miami Concours this year was too much traffic and too popular. Maybe not for the entrants, but for the event that is a better problem than no people. In order to protect the cars better and lower traffic they're going to require selling tickets, in that case a win-win for the owners and the event.

By the way I have sent the link of this thread to the Cavallino Classic Modena customer support a week ago and told them, that if they want they can add their point of view, but as it seems, they are not too interested to do that.

Hopefully instead of only monitoring, this time they will also take notice. But I doubt it. :)

For what it's worth… I don't think this is about ticket prices or whom is willing to pay what, it's not about being "cheap" or "grumpy old men". It's about the company (Cavallino) not honoring their own published rules/criteria/guidelines (see post #6). At least that's the issue for me, and I think the issue for the OP.

I know this might be different, but when I was invited to display my car at Casa Ferrari in Pebble Beach, I wasn't asked to pay anything. I was given credentials to Casa Ferrari and to Pebble Beach, all at the expense of Ferrari. I feel like if a show (any show) is in such desperate need of cars to display that they call and invite you to show your car, then the expense is on them (the show) not you (the owner). That's the least they could do. If you need my car at your show (and I haven't applied for it) then you can invite me at your expense. And I would certainly never display my car at a show that I couldn't attend.

When you submit an academic paper for a conference and it's accepted,
you have to pay for the conference, travel, accommodation, etc. It's a beautiful thing.

    You got that right.

Kudos for driving them crazy though. The guy was trying to be polite so you can feel extra special about getting the package even though it wasn't a requirement,
and you took them through the entire labyrinth. :D

And you got a very good story at a very good price. :)

Admittedly, I've never done that. But, the scenario is not quite the same…

In your scenario, you've submitted an academic paper for a conference, they didn't blind call you because they needed more academic papers due to a shortage of applicants. I, too, pay for the concours events to which I submit applications and get accepted. But, if they call me out of the blue due to a shortage of entrants, then they can foot the bill for that. I'm reasonable; I wouldn't expect travel nor accommodation expenses, but I would expect transport expenses for my car (if incurred) and credentials to the show for which my car is being requested.

Pebble Beach and Casa Ferrari at PB are two totally different, separate events, they have zero to do with each other. It just happens that FNA has Casa Ferrari very nearby the actual PB Concours. Naturally a pure marketing thing, very cleverly happening at the same Sat/Sun.
PB Concours is a super serious and highly professionally judged worldwide top concours. All marques. Exists since some 75 years, top reputation.
Casa Ferrari is a Ferrari display/parking without any judging etc.

Which makes it even more interesting and special that FNA provided credentials for not only their Casa Ferrari event, but also Pebble Beach! Unrelated events, but that was part of the package they gave me when they wanted my car there. Simply highlighting how most shows/events (regardless of caliber) will at least allow you entrance to said event if they request your car, which is quite a different experience than the family mentioned by @Rifledriver had at Cavallino (not being allowed to attend the event despite their cars being on display).

me too, exactly my experience when my 355 was invited. FYI about 50x Ferrari owners want to be invited than actually are and about 10x of people who can buy the Casa tickets for many thousands are actually able to. Even if you don't have a car each dealer is allocated a select few tickets for staff and VIP clients.

we enjoyed the event, especially because it was free like you experienced. however, you can't compare it to any other event because only a fraction of people get the opportunity and free tickets and beyond that even the paying people only a fraction are allowed the privilege to pay thousands (ala Quail etc).

Good evening everyone, next weekend I will be in Modena also to watch the parade of cars participating in Cavallino Classic.
Can someone please tell me on which day (Saturday or Sunday) the parade in the city and the stop at the Enzo Ferrari Museum are scheduled?
I tried to call to ask for precise information to Canossa, the traffic police and the municipality of Modena but I was unable to acquire precise information.
Thank you, I hope to take some photos and then post them.

It was not Cavallino. Cavallino is in Florida, not Monterey and Cavallino is not a Ferrari event. It was Casa Ferrari. The owner was told it was sold out and refused entrance..

Looks like I should have gone back and re-read your post! I suspect I confused parts of your post with parts of another post. Regardless, that's total BS that any event would request your car(s) and then not let you attend the event that your cars will be at. If my car is there, so am I, otherwise my car doesn't show. If Casa Ferrari had wanted my car and not allowed me entrance, then I absolutely would have said "no" to it.
