Sainz 6th Well done sir, now wave at Vasseur on the way past with the "loser" sign. McLaren are 1.15 secs faster than last year, Verstappen 1.05 secs faster and Ferrari.......0.21 secs faster. Sums it up nicely. They are nearly a second off pole, after 50 + years following Ferrari, this is a new low in car performance. The last one was the 312B3. You have to hand it to Verstappen, how does he pull those rabbits out of the hat!
Looking around maybe RedBull if Max leave. Toto doesnt need him at all. George is doing well and they wont release Kimi ever this soon.
Ideally Ferrari should fight for the win; considering there are other strong contenders, the minimum would be to fight with McLaren, Mercedes and Red Bull. Instead, they are also outperformed by both Williams and Aston Martin. That's a terrible performance.
Where would Charles go? Either he goes to lesses teams, or stays at Ferrari cashing in , the several Millions of Euros and living a dream life in Monaco. The firing of Carlos is what (in Texas) call a "blessing in disguise" as Carlos is motivated and the Williams has huge potential. As for Sir Lewis, I think it is a sad way to end a brilliant career...selling his Brand for money and zero contribution to Ferrari.
The today's Ferrari team performances are just the result of Mr.Elkann's disastrous choiches and first of these, the fact to have nominated as commander in chief Mr.Vasseur with his drover's face, who refuses to speak Italian, and always ready to push childish excuses to justify his own poor and failed team management. Can anyone tell me what this guy's winning racing past consisted of, such that he was appointed team manager of Ferrari F1 ?
Vasseur, Serra and Bigois all need to be shown the door before the 2026 car is to far into the design stage, at the very least the last two. Possibly the best thing is do the opposite of what they propose, that would be my choice Sanchez was another failure in the aero dept, there is a pattern evolving here....perhaps the French are lacking aero expertise?
Renault, then Sauber / Alfa......wonderfully successful there!!!!! He is vastly out of his depth. Most people following F1 could see it on the 1st day except the Ferrari management.
No, can’t be. Wasn’t he the Messiah on wheels? Even though our nightmares began before Elkann, he has made them worse somehow, and since he is an expert in the short term, I do hope we don’t end up being like his other vast success: Stellantis. I’never known more frustrated and angry Ferrari owners than in Elkann’s era. As a brilliant one said here, best thing that could happen to Ferrari is to “throw him out of a helicopter”
Some of Leclerc's comments post-quali: Reflecting on whether he could have produced a better lap, the frustrated Monegasque said: “I don’t think so. I mean you can always do a little bit more with a lap and improve quite a few things. “We are just P-nowhere at the moment. There’s not enough performance in the car and I keep repeating myself. “There’s just not the potential that we would hope for inside this car at the moment. We need to be better. “Very, very hard. I can fight as much as I want but at the moment I cannot do miracles. This is what there is in the car and I am trying to extract the maximum out of it. That’s it.” And to Italian press he said: “We can turn the car around, put the front tyres on the back or the rear tyres on the front, but the potential isn't there right now.” He looked dead inside.
Welcome to Ferrari. Ferrari has gone thru 7 TP's since Horner was TP for RedBull. Some of Ferrari's TP's have no experience in cars but in cigarettes.
My proxy support for Ferrari all goes to Sainz this year. He is showing what a good driver Ferrari fired. At this rate Ferrari will be lucky to finish 6th among all the teams. Maybe Elkann will change the name to Stellantis F1.
Another thoroughly enjoyable qualifying. Oscar is in top form and making the most of it. Great job and well deserved. Max's qualifying performances in 2025 are probably the best of his career. It's one thing for the car to lack performance but it's even more impressive when you know he isn't happy with it's handling characteristics. Lando is falling into a depression at this point. His performances are getting worse and worse. Big upgrade from Aston Martin. Probably a little misleading since they used the medium tires which other teams knew was better but they didn't want to sacrifice that tire. Could pay off since Imola is very difficult to pass on and Alonso is a master of defense. The hard tire should be the better race tire anyways. Ferrari. Dropping down to the 5th or 6th best car in one of their home GP's. That's sensationally bad.
