After a lot of research, experience, and trial and error I think I have found the perfect combination of sports cars for daily drivability, practicality, excitement, and affordability. Maybe I'm a snob but I've gotten to the point in my life that I don't want to drive boring, ugly, slow cars or electric cars with no soul. In my opinion, nothing beats a Porsche 911 for daily practicality with supercar performance and nothing beats a Ferrari for brand recognition, excitement, and pure driving experience. Yes, it is possible to have all of this without completely breaking the bank!

My "daily" car is a 2020 Porsche 911 (992) Carrera 4s (chalk color). It's almost as fast as the 488 (maybe the same 0-60). It's all wheel drive with all season tires so I can use it year round, even in light snow and cold. It has a back seat (I know, very small). It has good clearance for around town driving and good gas mileage. It's bulletproof. It handles amazing and looks great.

My "special" car is a 2017 488 Spider (rosso corsa color). It's beautiful. You can smell the italian leather when you get in. It roars like a race car in race mode with manual shifting. It's lightning fast, handles amazing, and is reliable. Open roof is pure joy. It's probably the best modern Ferrari value al for the money right now. It turns heads everywhere; at least where I live you almost never see another Ferrari.

The sum total of both cars was less than $400K and each car had less than 11K miles on it when purchased. Since then I've been driving both cars a lot and have put a few thousand miles on them.

Is there a better sports car combination for less than $400K that gives you both daily practicality and driving excitement?

    Nice cars.

Not to be pedantic about "the smell of Italian leather", but doesn't Connolly Leather (English) supply Ferrari?

For the 488 its more likely to be Poltrona Frau.

Not heard of them before, looks like they might also be English (despite the name!)

This is a great thread. I'm probably around 300-350k now for both cars (2025 M8 GC and 2008 F430 converted) and want to change things up a bit. 992.1 is where my heart is at. Not sure what I'd do with the F430, even though I'm not "in love" with it I just can't seem to let it go either.

Nice combo. If I could own only one sports car it would have to be my 992.1, but my life would not be complete without owning a Ferrari, and honestly the 488 is the best value modern Ferrari right now, all things considered. Porsche's are practical. Ferrari's are exciting. Both have amazing performance.

what other cars did you add? I was thinking a 355 or a v12 would be awesome but my wife would kill me.

I added an F12. I got it the same color (red/tan) as the 458. I had a two car garage at the time so I kept the Porsche and one Ferrari at home and another Ferrari in a storage unit. I would swap out the Ferraris from time to time and the wife never noticed because they were the same color. One day I got greedy and had both the Ferraris home at the same time and she got wise to my scheme. After that I went on tilt and bought a bright green evo because there was no sense in hiding it at that point.

haha that’s really funny. I need to try that. I’ve thought a hurrican evo would be a great addition as well. How do you like it compared to the Ferraris?

I also have the Porsche/Ferrari combo (992.1 Carrera T and F8 T)-- definitely not under 400k (more like 527,500) but it's a good combo for sure.

For me its a 458 and a W204 C63 AMG (the pre-turbo naturally aspirated one) - if the latter counts as a "sports" car. I'll probably be getting rid of the latter soon though as all i really use it for these days is long motorway trips and driving to the shops.

Before I bought the 458, I was looking at adding an FF to the C63. I quite liked the idea of being able to say my average engine displacement amongst my stable of cars was above 6L

    458 spider and Urus
Only Porsche I’d perhaps consider is Spyder RS as the rest are just too common/clinical.

Yeah I have thought a Urus as a daily driver would go well with a Ferrari. What do you like about the Urus?
