Cannot seem to find the thread by swift53 regarding the recent availability of RHD dash.
I don't think the thread was deleted due his ban, but rather for having commercial/marketing aspect included in the post.
OK, but there are some active threads that have the same context i.e sales connotations? I thought this forum was about helping people and especially for locating difficult to source items, how can that happen when informative threads are deleted. Seems like some including me are wasting their time and contributing to a profile that others have to pay!! mmmmm Money i guess.............. no wonder the Dino section is dead! ...Kill the goose
Sorry to burst your bubble Tony, but this forum, despite what it's long gone original intentions may have been, is clearly a commercial enterprise* for its stakeholders (i.e. their business, their rules). And if I'm not mistaken, this forum has specific classifieds sections for those who wish to sell their products or for those looking to acquire any. *For generalized reference, please review the final comment/line said at the end of the (great !) movie "Killing them softly".
POP !! PS- Never seen that movie for some reason, watched the closing remark on youtube ....say no more!
IMO Alberto was offering to provide a service to Dino owners rather than trying to enrich himself. He is passionate about all things Dino and goes to great lengths to accurately reproduce parts that have long been unobtainable.
100% . No different to "Dino Sources" not everyone looks in there. I took it as information exchange, so mods can you please return the post by swift53 as this has valuable info to dino owners and moreover has a serious impact on future posters in this forum. i.e Why do we bother? Best Tony
In the unlikely event that a mod sees this thread, it's even less likely that the thread in question would be restored. It's unfortunate that all for sale thread get deleted, but if you start to make exceptions, the forums would be littered with ads selling all sorts of crap. The object is to keep the forums clear of this kind of stuff and push it into classifieds. It's mostly successful, with occasional lapses. Alberto has run afoul of this rule before, and should probably know better by now. If Alberto listed it in the classified section, he'd be able to add a link/thread here pointing to the item. I'm not 100% sure this is still the case, but when I moderated, that was the case. Also, I don't believe there is a moderator on the board now who has much interest in the older cars, and most certainly not Dinos in particular, so it's not getting looked at unless someone reports the post. That means IF it got deleted, it happened because someone who visits this forum reported it. As to the reduced traffic? Wonder if it's a combination of original owners here selling their cars, combined with a general malaise when it comes to car forums. Seems everyone except "bring a trailer" is down on views. D
This would be my guess or perhaps more specifically, someone who has a bone to pick with Alberto. Similar, but for RHD applications.
