Maurice Trintignant cruising to victory in the 1955 Monaco GP in his Ferrari 625. That was 22 May — yep, exactly 70 years ago tomorrow. Somehow I doubt this Sunday’s winner will be rolling in with that number… or that much style. :D:D:D

Monaco won't be a race, it will be a fleecing of the audience who pays to see it. Sainz has admitted that, less than a third of the way into the season, Williams has stopped all developement on this years car. You can bet that every other team, small and large, is doing the same. So the year is over, they might as well tally the points year todate and declare the winners. Even if they cut the ticket prices by 75%, every race from here on is worthless as an example of motorsport.

The audience is paying to attend and be seen at an "exclusive" lifestyle event, not a race.

    Williams has shallow pockets.

In that case there is no reason to watch or offer comment.

Every race for the last few decades has been worthless when the majority of "fans" who idolize and pay huge sums to watch their driver / hero but the race is then manipulated by the team for the good of the team!

I worked for SHELL from 1980 until 1995; they were mostly sponsoring McLaren then.

So Enzo Ferrari was using Shell products from the 50's on. When Fiat bought into Ferrari in 68, and then bought the factory buildings from Enzo in the early 70's - when he was ill, Fiat made sure that they changed from Shell to Agip. Agip was the Italian National oil company set up under Mussolini, and the King... and connected to the Angelli family early on. I think now they are owned by Eni Chem.

They also took over Shell Italia, in the 70's from Sinclair oil partnership in Libya. its a convoluted web of agreements, all based on Italian Oil conglomerate. Agip does / did have a great logo!
