100% . No different to "Dino Sources" not everyone looks in there. I took it as information exchange, so mods can you please return the post by swift53 as this has valuable info to dino owners and moreover has a serious impact on future posters in this forum. i.e Why do we bother? Best Tony
In the unlikely event that a mod sees this thread, it's even less likely that the thread in question would be restored. It's unfortunate that all for sale thread get deleted, but if you start to make exceptions, the forums would be littered with ads selling all sorts of crap. The object is to keep the forums clear of this kind of stuff and push it into classifieds. It's mostly successful, with occasional lapses. Alberto has run afoul of this rule before, and should probably know better by now. If Alberto listed it in the classified section, he'd be able to add a link/thread here pointing to the item. I'm not 100% sure this is still the case, but when I moderated, that was the case. Also, I don't believe there is a moderator on the board now who has much interest in the older cars, and most certainly not Dinos in particular, so it's not getting looked at unless someone reports the post. That means IF it got deleted, it happened because someone who visits this forum reported it. As to the reduced traffic? Wonder if it's a combination of original owners here selling their cars, combined with a general malaise when it comes to car forums. Seems everyone except "bring a trailer" is down on views. D
This would be my guess or perhaps more specifically, someone who has a bone to pick with Alberto. Similar, but for RHD applications.

Of which, unfortunately, there seem to be several here. Alberto can sometimes be a little, well, harsh in his posts and that can come back to bite one in the ass. I'll do a little deeper dig for the other thread and ping @NeuroBeaker to see if he can take a minute to search the deleted posts as well. D
I think swift53 doesnt suffer fools gladly. Dave- I understand entirely and dont disagree with anything you say, except these rare items for rare (ish) cars and are not the run of the mill sales mechandise like bonnets and wheels for a 360. Nobody would ever find it in the classifieds and a link has to be very specific. Dino sources has plenty of links to people selling stuff so i dont see the problem, furthermore others gladly sell their wares on this section so whats new! If it is a snitch - hang your head in shame best Tony
Correct. Also correct. Alberto is not a sponsor, so he can't put a For Sale thread directly in the model forums. He must use his quota for the classifieds and then drop a link in the model forums to direct people there. If he runs out of quota, he'll have to consider upgrading his account to gain the privileges he wants rather than just ignore the commercial rules. The thread was deleted with a system warning message. His ban was a completely separate issue regarding an ongoing, and very tiresome, dispute with another member. He was already offline for that incident when the sale thread was addressed. All the best, Andrew.
So it's not OK to post for sale ads in the regular forums, but it's OK to post links in the regular forums to the ads in Classifieds? In practice the discussion then tends to occur in the regular forums anyway.
Me. When I ban a member for trolling, I conduct a systematic review of their other posts to see if that behavior extended into other threads and forums. I discovered the commercial post transgression during that review. All the best, Andrew.
The process was clearly explained above. All swift53 needs to do, when he comes back, is create a legit ad (meaning in the ad forum with a price) and tag on a "Directing all purchase inquiries to this link" post to this thread. That does exactly what you seem to want without violating any rules of the site.
Thanks for reinstating the post by swift53, I am sure he will place a ad if necessary. I was confused because the post was deleted in its entirety so there was no record of his achievement to refer to! I do sincerely hope he does come back, we all approach things in different ways so a little leaway is commendable. Best tony
This thread was never deleted, instead Swift53's original thread discussing his project and your thread asking where the thread went were merged. What was deleted was the first post in a new thread in which Swift53 declared the project finished and asked people to start contacting him about it. That new thread was unneccesary (he should have used this thread) and signaled the transition from project to sales (triggering the requirement that the commercial aspects be discussed in the classified ad section).
