I started a thread in Silver ‘if you could buy only one car and DD for 5 years’…several Urus selections as was mine. Luxury, sport, great noise and speed, excellent utility, reliability, and can go under radar with proper spec.
Definitely Ferrari and Porsche. Just deciding the Porsche. Definitely not a 911 variant more of a Cayman variant join the 488GTB Want a more practical everyday car.
Well I bought all 3 of these for WAY less than $400k so I'll go with this combo. BTW, the Wrangler with the hemi V8 is like the most versatile DD ever and fun to drive.... Pretty fun group - a V8, a supercharged V8, a V12, 2 manual transmissions (1 gated), 2 open tops Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
I love it! I'm about to embark on the second half of this equation. I already own the "special" car but made the decision to upgrade my occasional track/2nd car (E46 330ci) to a 911. I just started educating myself on Porsches and I've narrowed down my search to a: 997.2 Carrera or Carrera S with PDK, I'm shying away from the 997.1 because I've read the 997.2 is more reliable. But I agree with the OP, someone told me a long time ago that the 911 is the perfect supercar/daily you could own. I also like how I could drive the same 911 on the track earlier in the day then take the wife to a nice dinner later that night. I've recently joined Rennlist to look for my car along with Facebook Marketplace. Any tips for those of you who own Porsches would be great
I daily a 997.1. I've put 55k miles on it. Very reliable. It's a stick and fun to drive. Can put a couple kids in the back seat. My brother in law (who's driven all my cars) says its his favorite one.
I daily a 992.1 T, and weekend a 458 Spider. Had a 718 Spyder before the Ferrari. Needless to say, big upgrade. Image Unavailable, Please Login
I personally like the 992.1 due to the more modern tech and performance....although it will be a lot more expensive than a 997.
Pretty simple, bought it in early 2020 just as Covid hit and there was a mad panic to sell in those early times. It also had 28k miles, not like the zero mile cars that get $400k. Paid $182k
Don't know if this is directed at me, but there were alot of Scuderias in the mid $170ks I was interested in and I also passed on a $215k high mile 16M (which would have put me just over $400k) ......but wanted the FGT more.
And less for cars with miles, alot of mods (mine has $40k worth or so - came with all of them so my net cost is much lower than what I paid because I would have bought most of them anyway) and so on. If my car went on the market, probably sell in the high $2xxk. I wanted a car to drive, not wipe with a diaper.....
Cars with miles have been selling well into the high $3’s lately. Last 4 months has seen appreciation.
I have been following sales, as I think about my car owning future mixed with a probable retirement. The cars you are talking about are like 10-15k mile cars all stock. Mine has 33k, plus all the mods (which some buyers would want, some not), and a carfax ding when a previous owner ran over a piece of concrete in a parking lot a long time ago (if that happened these days it would have been repaired out of pocket (not much damage)). None of that bothers me of course, the thing runs, handles, and sounds much better than diaper cars. Now the weird part is that repaired salvage cars sell into the $3xx now Regardless, every one made is a true automotive icon.
