Can the asking price be even anywhere close to current market value for this "beauty"?

i know i seen this car some were else a few years ago i think gullwing in ny not sure,
if i remember it was going for around 25k, but to ask 40k is not really telling what the market is,
either way if anyone wants to make a track only this might be the car at this price to do a full rebuild or even just a paint and mechanical redo for a driver you will probably all in around 80 -90k you can buy one that is ready to go at that price

Looks like it was sitting in a field with the top open for a very long time. That's really sad to see.

Well, the trunk carpet looks very nice…

Why does it have 1/3 of a boxer paint job? I’d love to know the backstory on that.

If they can get $46k for this, then I will feel very, very good about my 82 gtsi.

    I'd guess but restor-purchase = very little

its got to be worth $30-40k in parts?

but being complete means some will see it as a viable project of some kind and that adds 20%?

I don't know man as bad as that looks... I would suspect every electrical piece on it is suspect.

Might be able to salvage the engine, but since it looks like it has probably sat in a field somewhere for a long time I would guess that engine is toast as well.

It is a thing. But why does this one only have 1/3 of it? Like somebody decided to convert 1/3 to boxer, or elected to paint 2/3 of it body color. I was just curious what runs through someone’s mind when they do something like that.

It's Beverly Hills Car Club. I'd run as far and fast in the other direction as possible.

Fair. My 84 just had the molding and I guess that is all this car probably originally..... a cheap way to repair it maybe?

In my mind it kind of doesn't matter since all the paint is shot. For sure not a restoration candidate and probably over priced but hopefully someone buys it ( well below asking) for something other than parts.

True, but the cars they show are really in poor shape and somehow people still buy them. This one is especially bad but I've seen other classics of various makes almost as bad. Maybe they sell on consignment and give it back to the owner it doesn't sell?

I guarantee you looking at the pics (the top of the radiator for example) this car is full of rust they ain't showing. No way you can have an interior like that and not have rust.
