3 place grid drop for Lewis
Monaco qualifying is always worth watching. A real nail biter down to the last. Amazing stuff. McLaren are just flat out the better car but it's great to see Ferrari at least up there. Who knows if they will be competitive in the race. Expected a little more from Max but the Red Bull has never been amazing over curbs. Alonso and Hadjar were top notch
Well that was a very qualifying show. Leclerc's concerns were correct...they weren't as strong on Saturday as on Friday. Now a lot will depend on the strategy with the manadatory two pit stops. Do they have to use all three compounds...that sounds pretty dorky? Or just use two compounds but have to make the extra stop? If the former, start on the hard, after a couple of laps, change to the medium, and keep the soft for the second stop? Before qualifying, they ran some footage of a guy being taken for a drive in a Ferrari, intercut with historical footage...it was sure a better show when the cars were smaller and less technology was involved.
From what I understand, they need to use "three different sets of tyres" - which means two of them could be of the same compound (but, since this rule is an addition and not a replacement, I suppose they still need to use two different compounds). They also still have the limitation in the quantities of sets for the week-end, so that will impact what they will have available as used / new sets.
It was Stroll level impeding, but it didn't change anything. Both drivers were going through to Q2 so why penalize him? /
This race is going to be chaotic for strategists with: 1) The mandatory 2 stop. 2) highly possible SC(s) which leads to #3. 3) possible Red Flags. So many factors involved in this race it seems anyone could win it.
I wonder whether there is enough time during one single SC to make two pit stops... Because, as we've already seen, making one pit stop "at full time cost" when others could do it during a SC a VSC is completely killing the ability to compete in the race.
Understood.....but this race is going to have to play itself out....kinda like "you make it as you go" without predicting what the future may be.
Essentially forcing a driver to do another lap taking even more out of tyre life that'll potentially get used in the race.
Holy **** imagine the crying and sympathy if Charles’ engineer had given him bad info and he’d gotten a 3 place penalty. Somehow Lewis must have deserved it. looking forward to tomorrow - Forza!
Adami's fault 100%. His mistake. I feel he is really the wrong engineer for Sir Loulou. They clearly have a communication problem.
Adami is the wrong engineer full stop. The guy has always been terrible. I honestly do not understand how he has a job anywhere NEAR F1. Even if Lewis couldn't take Bono with him, I'm surprised he accepted Adami as his engineer. Getting him away from from an F1 team would be the first thing in my contract.
Vasseur is normally good at getting rid of the wrong people or at least relocating them. That was the case with the clown head strategist Inaki Rueda; Fred put him to pasture, reassigned him into an office role of some kind, very soon after he arrived. So I would not rule out him getting LH another engineer by summer. Unless Adami is there out of nepotism and protected by higher ups, an all too common problem in Italy.
Not that Adami and Lewis seem to be working perfectly together (even with sufficient tea breaks), but doesn't Ferrari have multiple analysts looking at real time data and advising Adami what to tell Lewis? Whoever was supposed to be closely monitoring other cars on the track missed that Max's RB was coming in hot - and there wasn't a whole lot of time to determine that since didn't the impeding happen in T2 or T3? Maybe that WAS entirely Adami's job, or maybe someone else ****ed up. Regardless, it's a shame Lewis isn't starting directly behind Charles. Monaco, like not other, shows how amazingly precise these guys are. Incredible how close they cut it.
Does anyone know how to acquire a shell 75th anniversary Monaco poster? This thing is great. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Print it on regular paper. Take it Fed-Ex retail and have them blow it up poster size or however big you want it. Gloss it over or laminate it. Done.
