What I was referring to is the push to pass cheating at St Petersburg last year. He knew because he pushed the button. Undeniable. Then a few weeks later there was a press conference in which he revealed himself to be the greatest hypocrite I have ever heard, pretending to be all emotional...low life. Anyway sorry for my compatriot Marcus, another second place but well done Palou, making history.
Monaco has a lot of build up, hoopla and tradition. Then it produces a boring race. Indianapolis has a lot of build up, hoopla and tradition. Then it produces and exciting race.
Indy is wide with long straights, and the lap speeds have been kept in check over the years, I believe. Monaco has none of that; its narrow and twisty and receives every year cars with improved performances. Comparing Indianapolis and Monaco is like discussing evolution against stagnation.
I disagree. In fact it's a natural comparison - Two great events on the same day. At the end of the day one can't help but compare the two. Everyone knows it's a different formula and a different circuit! But now that you bring it up it simply lends credence to those who say racing at Monaco is absurd. But . . . I'm not one of those. As long as the race promotor, series owners and competitors want to show up there and "race" I will still watch it.
I was a big fan when he was in Europe and then came to IndyCar with Fisher/Carpenter et al, but he’s really become unbearable at Penske. which is odd because Will is still his old crazy self and I don’t think Scotty Mac has gotten too full of himself either
Good day for A.J. Foyt Racing, with his cars finishing 3rd and 7th. For a guy with a somewhat wild reputation, Ferrucci continued his streak of finishing in the top 10 of every 500 he's been in.
Sorry - I thought we were discussing the CURRENT situation with the Current IRL race involving Penske, since it says 'INDY 500 RACE thread!'
I think it's absurd to race F1 in Monaco nowadays, and I say so. You are also entitled to your opinion. But didn't you say it provides a boring race ? Of course Monaco will always attract commercial interests, the entertainment industry and the business lobby. That's not what I follow in F1. From a racing point of view, it's a flop that get's worse year after year. It's a blot on the calendar, a total farce.
I remember his old Vanquish (2010 maybe) on sale at Ferrari of Washington back when I lived there. His name was on the door threshold panel.
I've been to many F1 races in Europe. There is no auto racing comparable to the opening green flag at Indianapolis. Regarding Monaco, if you offered me a weekend on a yacht and as a personal guest of Prince Albert II for the start/finish and I'll take Turn One, Penthouse E at Indianapolis every single year, not even close. Prince Albert II would be in Indianapolis if he could.
During one of the Monaco practice sessions Karun Chandok mentioned he took his father to the Indy 500 a few years back and they both found it thrilling. This seemed to shock "Crofty" somewhat as if he dare say anything was better than F1.
Someone will have to explain to me what the attraction is with the so-called "snake pit". Is this some kind of Hoosier thing or am I just older than dirt?
