Had a friend in the late 80s who went for a presentation of her company. Had a track facing apartment until Sunday night, but left mid week because of the noise of grandstands being erected...

The thing is though, Monaco is far from the only place to bring boring races. It just highlights the fact that the cars are FAR too big, have far too much traction, too much aero.

Monaco is a race EVERY gp driver wants to win. Same as the Indy 500, or Le Mans in endurance racing.

What's the real fix? Aside from having much smaller cars, which is a little bit unrealistic (to a point), maybe something else can be done:

    Saturday pole shootout where on a slightly reduced points pay out top 10 drivers get points. 15 12 10 8 6 5 4 3 2 1 or something.

Then sunday, a reverse grid race based on championship positions.

So, more gimmicks just to keep an obsolete track ? I say NO !!

It is not a track. Obvious at this point in time. Sadly Miami is better at this stage of life in F1 as a “circuit”. Its a narcissistic event for Billionaires and Insta fools and a driver can race and pass!

IMO modifying the track a little would also help a little. Instead of turning right at Portier, turn left just before it and go around the roundabout. Increases speed throughout the tunnel. Then instead of the chicane, have a simple left right that opens up a bit more both on braking and exit. These are simple modifications.

"a little", "a tiny bit", but these modifications wouldn't solve the core problem.
Monaco would still be too narrow to offer anything close to proper racing for modern F1.

Yes, Miami and Las Vegas, although much decried for their "circus" aspect, offer better conditions for racing than Monaco.
    Same for Baku or Singapore.

Seriously. I totally hate the grid girls having been replaced by the F1 kids (anybody ever seen that atrocious F1 kids commentary show?). I feel adding Disney characters is more childish stupidity I can do without. Please keep racing real.

Don't disagree at all -- the F1 cars need to be far more uncontrollable/unstable and harder to operate (no computers, no automated gearboxes) plus the tracks need to be far more penalizing if you run wide -- if only "safety" wasn't a thing...

By far the most boring race so far.

With all the idea's for improvement, guys face it, it will not happen. Monaco is there, and only there because of the history, and the money paid.
And true, every driver hates this race but every driver does wants to win Monaco. It is there to stay. Let's move on to Barcelona.

( Maybe they put it in the middle of a triple header so we simply do not have much time to discuss Monaco)

When the current WDC states this, Monaco is a joke as a 'race'.

Nothing lasts forever, and never understimate the power of opinions.
The voices against holding a GP in Monaco grow stronger every year.
Hiding behind tradition and history to defend a circuit that respects none of the norms imposed to others is no defense.
Organising a World Championship GP in the streets of Monaco is an anachronism, it needs to stop.

There is nothing historical that matters to world at large lol. It was off during COVID. It didnt get noted or missed and the "Royal" family was not out any wealth lol. Defending it is pathetic given recent years. Re-calibrate this stupid event into something meaningful. Max provided a concise Post NON RACE analysis :)

Limit wheel base to 2.5 meters
Limit car length to 3.0 meters
And take 30mm off the outside of the tires.
