Good morning out there from Delaware!

Just took delivery of my first Ferrari yesterday. Rosso Corsa '99 F360 F1 Coupe. It was a Scottsdale Barrett Jackson car earlier this year and I got it from a local dealer down there on consignment. Sat in the garage and stared at it for at least an hour yesterday. I can never get tired of those body lines. This was my "bedroom wall poster" car as a kid and I'm beyond exited to finally have it in the garage. Now the fun begins.

It's got some of the typical 360 issues and I plan to go over it and repair/replace/improve a few things in the coming months that are not up to my standards. I'm hoping to keep it a regular driver project and not do what I typically do with my cars, which its strip it down to the bones and do a complete, full-blown restoration. Fingers crossed.

I'm a 21-year Air Force veteran and was a C-17 Instruments and Flight Controls Specialist, and have about the same amount of thorough experience wrenching on my own stuff (including frame-off restorations, full paint jobs and body work, complete re-wires, transmission and engine rebuilds) so I feel quite confident maintaining this thing myself and with any issues it throws my way. I'm excited to learn these unique systems. Also in my stable: 1968 Galaxie Convertible (5.0 Swap), 1969 Coronet (Gen 3 Hemi/TR6060 swap), and a 1971 Chevelle (489 BBC w/ 8-71 Blower/TH400 w/ GV overdrive).

First up on the docket with the 360 is the F1 issue... Its a mess, barely drivable. Getting the short cycling pump and associated issues going into neural and not shifting past 2nd. I can hear it trying though. Being a 99 I cant get into the TCM to confirm, but I'm fairly certain its the accumulator. additionally, I found a somewhat recent invoice from Ferrari of Scottsdale suggesting to replace it on a past annual but was service was declined. Fluid was low and a little frothy, topped it off to a fingernail as suggested to no avail. Accumulator sounds like a good starting point and I already ordered the suitable substitute Alpha part. While I'm at it, I'll either upgrade the relay and block to a higher amp unit or go with the Scud Ing Swiss ECU. Haven't quite decided yet. I do like the idea of a solid state relay though so I'm considering wiring in an MSD SS unit with the associated spade connectors so I do not have to modify the stock relay block. Anyway.. more to come!

I have a shop full of equipment, but I can already tell this site is the most useful tool I have. So thank you all!

Welcome aboard! That’s a wonderful collection you have. If you haven’t already encountered @imahorse , you may want to reach out. I believe his 360’s “natural state” is in bits and pieces (although I think it’s largely together now, IIRC). His solution to F1 problems was to convert to manual, but he may have some insight for you (also maybe some spare parts removed during his conversion).

Thanks! I may in the future go that route with the conversion, but I think I talked myself into retaining the F1. At least for a bit. But that's my nuclear option if it ends up being a total mess and needing more expensive repairs haha. I'll likely be reaching out soon to 360Trev or his counterpart (the name escapes me at the moment) about the CS TCU and ECU upgrade shortly, but I think I'm going to limit myself to one thing at a time for now to keep it simple with the results.

Congratulations and welcome! A newer tcu definitely opens up a lot of diy ability with most scanners.

Thanks! Well the good news is that I discovered it has a 191701 TCU yesterday when I was poking around, which from everything I can see on here, is the first version able to be re-flashed. I couldn't get it to connect to the Thinkdiag 2, but that will be an adventure for another day. The car has been through 10 owners and a lot has been changed, so there's really no telling what actual firmware/software is on the thing.
