Does anyone know the size of #42 in the schematic? I'd like to pick it up in the OEM section at Ace Hardware. Image Unavailable, Please Login
I don't believe that one is a machine screw. It's one of those course thread screws that go into plastic. There's a mix of them underneath so I could be wrong on that one but it appears to be the one that screws into the top half of the column. Are you missing all of them or can you take on other one out for reference?
It would be great to have a cross reference for fasteners. I doubt any of the purists would mind. A bolt is a bolt. Most of the parts suppliers know the size of the fastener, buy a box of 100 for $10, then sell them at $1.12 each.
I've tried to think like this and make it work but a lot of the time the Ferrari ones are a custom length to what my hardware store carries. I am in a challenged part of the world for stuff like this. Ordering from Ricambi or Eurospares, depending on where you live, gets you the highest quality, best finish and correct length...every time. The cost for simple Ferrari fasteners rarely breaks the bank but you have to plan ahead and order to have them on hand when you want to complete the job. .02
