Just a quick post here to see if anyone might be interested. If not, I'll put them on eBay with full description and proper pictures of every wheel etc.

As the title states, I've got a set of original Speedline SL886 magnesium wheels for sale. I bought them earlier this year from a French collector. They had been used on a F355 and I was planning to fit them to my 348.

However, when comparing to my current HRE wheels, I came to a bit of a painful conclusion: the HREs just look better on my car... So I decided to sell them on.

The wheels have been finished in a dark grey metallic with black 'Speedline' decals and include black caps with a silver cavallino. They are on Pirelli semi-slicks (Trofeo R). Here a picture of one fitted on my car:

Here's a pic of one of the other wheels. Clearly visible is the 'SL886' stamp on the inner edge:

The wheels are undamaged. They only have some minor signs of wear.

I think $6,000 for this set is a fair price, given they're original, undamaged Challenge wheels.

I look forward to hearing from anyone interested. We'll work out the best shipping options if you're not nearby - I've got no problem shipping it to anywhere on the planet :)

Update: I got a message from my garage, the wheels are now finished in white, just like the original Challenge wheels. We had discussed this earlier in view of selling the wheels, they had gone ahead with it before I knew it. Upshot is that the wheels are now immaculate, with zero miles/signs of wear.

Update 2: after asking for pictures of the now white wheels, they came back on that and let me know they're not white quite yet

I've asked to keep the wheels as-is and send me pictures of them. I will post those when I get them.

Selling with or without tires? If with the tires, what is the date code and tread depth on the tires?

They’re probably prepping (already sanded the wheels down) in preparation for paint. So the wheels have no color at this stage :).

I received pictures of all the wheels as they are right now (slightly dirty - they'll get a proper clean before shipping):

As you can see in the pictures, DOT codes for the tires are 2018/2019. They still have quite good tread depth and show no signs of drying out. Wheels are sold with the tires - unless the buyer doesn't want/need the tires.

The painting of the wheels did not go through at all as they were looking to find the correct decals to finish them off with. This seems to be a fortunate eventuality since it appears most of you are more fond of gunmetal grey :)

If you're interested and like to have more info/pictures, let me know.

Maybe you should get the wheels in your possession......might make people feel a bit better. I know I would.

From a practical perspective, this works best for me. I don't have to go to the shop (which is a bit of a drive) and collect the wheels, store them at home, and then, when sold, wrap them up, make arrangements for shipping, etc. They are now stored safely at the shop and they ship out stuff internationally all the time, so once they're sold they can establish the best shipping quote, if possible by combining shipments. This means less work for me and lower costs for the buyer.

If it does make potential buyers feel a bit better, this is the shop in question: https://bo.as-motorsport.com/garage - if you scroll down to the bottom of the page you can actually see a picture of my car (with the HRE wheels) opposite a NSX

Gun metal was not the original color anyway....All challenge wheels were made in white.

That's correct, and also the reason we were thinking about refinishing them in white as they originally were. I can still arrange this, if this is what the new owner wants.

Challenge wheels were offered in white, silver, gold, black in the 90’s. At some point later it was white only… hence the reason I asked for date of manufacture.

I know this because Speedline themselves gave me the color codes for the various colors offered.

If you wanted to know if the wheels were repainted at some points, you could've just asked. To me, it seems obvious they were repainted, as all the wheels that you'll see that are not repainted are finished in white. Apparently then, they were also offered originally in other colors, but not gunmetal grey according to your source.

The gold interests me. I have a '92, white with black rockers. Not sure where I want to go.

Unfortunately, I didn’t get the color code for gold as it appears the person who I asked 15 years ago no longer works there.

I did get the code for black :).

    “The paint code used for Speedlines black wheels is as follows (although you might struggle to match it);

    229.504 (Akzo Nobel)”
