Proper circuit. We get to see who is fast. Sunny, warm and flexi wing issues/changes. We have some intrigue possibly!
Rather standard practice overall. Data crunch time and adjust for Prac 2. Mercedes have now dropped the new rear suspension used in Imola. Not working overall.
Yeah Nico is good. Bernie Collins on the other hand . . . . I usually have no problem with the Irish accent. But she always seems to be mumbling to me. Mind you, I know she's very knowledgeable . . . but . . .
Louis on radio: Car is not driveable mate thats your contibution to the team? A 7 WDC + $100 MM contract, and the car is not driveable? Even Stroll can do better than that.
Rosberg noticed the Ferrari 'being a handful' so the balance is off a bit more for LH. Thats up to the team to sort in practice. We will know in Prac 3 potentially.
The biggest takeaway from practice was drivers talking about balance which could be directly related to the new front wing TD. I have to believe that the new TD will change the balance between low and high speed corners and some cars will be more affected than others. We heard radio messages from Lance Stroll, Yuki Tsunoda and Lewis Hamilton struggling with their cars. I wonder if the drivers that can adapt and/or drive edgy cars better will have a bit of an advantage.
Sainz was putting that out today earlier, Gary Anderson yesterday about the balance shift/control being needed to be adjusted with respect to the new wings up front. The edgier cars still seem to be just as edgy so far. Mclaren not really appearing affected.
Colapinto lol. Not doing more than Doohan so far. Flav and Marko should get a room and discuss driver management.
Did the Spanish made this circuit look like a Bull's head with two Horns one on either side? Was that purposefull or accidental?
.5 per lap. So its not an LH issue but a car issue. “Naturally that’s frustrating for everyone. We had some problem which meant we were losing some downforce, so hopefully with that fix for tomorrow we’ll be in a better place.” -LH. Vasseur concedes Ferrari struggled in FP2 Ferrari teammate Charles Leclerc fared better, setting the fifth-quickest time in FP2. However, he was over 0.5s off Piastri. Reflecting on Ferrari’s Friday, team boss Fred Vasseur said: “I think we had a very good pace this morning. We struggled a bit more in the afternoon,” he added. “I think we had a decent lap with Charles before the mistake on [Turn] 7, he was in advance on P1. “But the target is to put it up together, not to do some good corners only. And then we struggled a bit more at the beginning of each stint on the long stint. “I think it was true for us, but true for a couple of other cars. The track was very dirty with a lot of marbles as soon as we were out of the line. It was quite difficult to recover. “Overall, it was a long day, we collected also good information. It was the first time that we were running the front wing. I think we’ll have a lot of work tonight.”
Think Ferrari need to look at shutting the F1 operation down and focus on wec as clearly they are incapable of getting it together in F1.
During the summer break (if he even waits until then), Lewis will come up with a medical excuse to retire. He will not be in the car when the break ends.
Gary Anderson's early winners and losers from F1's flexi-wing clampdown McLaren - I see no big difference. It’s still the class of the field and it looks like it will be down to the drivers to not beat themselves by making mistakes. RedBull - The problem is Max Verstappen could drive a shopping cart quickly, and Yuki Tsunoda was complaining, as usual. But both of those are fairly normal, meaning Red Bull is in much the same situation as it was. Ferrari - As Nico Rosberg said on the Sky TV coverage, the Ferrari looks a handful for both drivers and Lewis Hamilton is still playing catch-up. The rear looks nervous in the fast corners and that points to a front wing that isn’t backing off as it did previously.
