The cars are set in a certain way in order to drive right. By messing with those parameters, one undoes all the work the engineers have done. Says who?
XX was 150k deposit 12Ci - 30k deposit They have had both two years - 3 is average from deposit to delivery.
Indeed, $125K is what I paid for the XX…and $30K for the 12C. Haven’t been asked yet for the 296 SA deposit yet, but I assume it’ll be what others here have paid.
I went for verde Nurburgring after seeing it in person. It’s not quite as bold as Verde Jewel - it’s a little bit desaturated, slightlyyy minty. Fantastic 2-layer color. and with Ferraris current paint pricing there no bright green metallic paint you can get in the 13–15kUSD range (PNTN launch special color) all the rest like Jewel , bosco, misoni, GB23 etc are nearly triple in cost. Verdi Nurburgring is just as beautiful. also +1 for waiting list on the app since earlier this week.
This changed a few years ago now dealers must forward the deposits on. Hence their angst about withdrawn orders, because the dealer then is out-of-pocket on the deposit and has the order position to fill.
Issue on resale for these special paints is they do very little to change the price in the secondary. Same with PTS Porsches. A triple layer and Rosso Corsa car may net $10k difference meanwhile triple is $38k more. Another reason to buy used.
I've got an F8 Spider and very happy with it. But my dealer is open to me paying a deposit for a 296 Speciale, obviously with no guarantee of actual allocation. Do you think it is much harder to get a Speciale A? And considering the much higher list price than a 488 Pista Spider, what is the likelihood of it retaining/increasing value into the future? It's much easier to justify the purchase it it can be viewed as a relatively safe place to store value.
Yes it is much harder. Also a Pista Spider (at least here) is not really cheaper secondhand than a new 296VS
Strange to have a deposit without guarantee for a special. It seems like that was the case for non-specials but generally not done for specials. It does appear to be much much harder to get Speciale A - fewer of the allocations and you have to own at least 3 Ferraris to qualify. Lots of different views of value on both the 296 and it's more of a guess on the Speciale/A. It's a lot of money to tie up and lose market or other appreciation on if you won't enjoy driving it. Even though 12 cylinder Ferraris depreciate more, the opposite is true about 12 cylinder specials. But if you can get one it should be low risk - mid engine specials shouldn't depreciate MUCH if at all, and worse case you turn it in on ROFR and just lose a few years of interest earnings on your deposit.
Sorry, I meant comparing new for new. Yes here in the UK too, a 488 Pista Spider is in the high £300ks, which is a bit less than a 296 SA, but a lot more than it was new. The never ending reports of battery issues is probably the deal killer for me, I'm just not confident Ferrari will sort it out in this generation. I was at a prestige exotic car dealership last weekend and they won't even consider taking a 296 in for stock.
interesting issue regarding the battery. I have not heard that recently and locally. Amongst my friends we have around 5 296’s, later models (24 and 25). We’ve not had any issues. I understand there were concerns about battery replacement costs down the line. Ferrari accordingly has increased their coverage of hybrid batteries.
The battery warranty is very long in the USA and extended warranty coverage for the whole car is under or about $3500 per year. Rationally, it should be a non issue considering the cars value. My 2022 is problem free so far. There are some problem cars and there are some issues adjusting to properly charging the car and it’s all covered by warranty. All in all it’s an incredible package. It’s human nature for change to make people uncomfortable- and it shows in the resale value. Makes for some incredible bargains for those that understand.
The warranty for the whole car will be substantially more than $3500/year. My guess given that they haven't released Power15 price for 296 and are only selling full bumper-bumper for $18-26k/year is that at some point they'll come out with Power15 price and it'll be at least as much as for the 12s (> $8k/year) and potentially $12k/year, though I hope not.
No- things have changed/ improved. If one continues purchasing the extended warranty (I paid $6800 for two years) it covers the entire car the same as the original warranty. This will cover the battery and hybrid power train indefinitely. It’s also rumored that Ferarri is working on improving the warranty further- to mitigate such hybrid/ battery anxiety in the hopes of improving resale values. IMO- smart.
Question for you all: How important are the livery (stripes) or carbon front spoiler, sidesills, rear diffuser for resale value?
Most people want the addition as it signifies what the car is. On the other hand- it comes down to supply and demand. So it depends how many do it and how many want it after all is said and done. I would do it. I would leave the number off the side of the car.
