Despite being out for years, surprisingly little gets posted about the GTS variant of the 812. I'm considering one. For owners, I'd love to discuss what you love, what you don't. Is the car everything you wanted? Is it an all timer or something else to have for a few years and move on from?

I'm grappling with that right now. I have an all-time TM spec, and it is gorgeous. Will I like the 12Cilindri more? I ordered a coupe to be different. Do I keep it? I'm not sure yet. Love the look, love the drive, the sound, the open top. Don't love the creak when the roof is closed, but I rarely have it so.

A 12 cylinder convertible is very special. Four wheel steering makes a large car nimble as compared to an F12 or earlier model.

    And did I mention the engine… :)

I have an 812 GTS. Personally, it’s the most enjoyable car that I’ve owned to date. Jekyll and Hyde. Incredible GT made for open top driving and an animal when you want to open it up. I have 250 cel cats on mine and the engine note is unreal now. I live in SoCal and put the top down almost 12 months out of the year so I get a lot of benefit out of the GTS.

Recently dropped my 12 Cilindri Spider allocation because I simply don’t see any reality that it beats the 812 for me. I like the look of the 812 more annd the engine note is better. After watching Doug Demuros walkthrough I am pretty sure I made the right decision. The numbers are fairly the same and I hate the tech in the 12C. I prefer the simplicity of the 812. I dont want to control the AC and seats etc with a screen and the functionality across the board looks cumbersome. I see the 812 being the one people gravitate towards buying if the 12C truly is the last NA V12 but only timer will tell.

To the original poster, what is a reason you wouldn’t want it?? I can’t think of any reason other than not wanting a convertible.

Well of course I want it. But there's space considerations, financial considerations, etc.

Funnily it's one of the least posted about special cars here. Which is probably a good thing. I'm just trying to get owners reviews and insight prior to taking serious looks.

We have different definitions of special. To me a
Convertible front engined V12 Ferrari is a special car. Regardless of production volume.

What’s the question then about it? I asked why you wouldn’t want it and you said of course you do. Not sure what your indecision is then.

I have a capristo valved exhaust and X pipe as well and its sounds incredible. Not overly obnoxious. Just right in my opinion. Not a single code in roughly 6 months or so of installation.

I also have an 812 GTS. I have owned it for 18 months and driven it 4000+ enjoyable, trouble free miles. It was specified by the NYC Atelier/TM team to be a show car in the 3 car Park Ave corporate showroom where it remained from early 2022 through May of 2023. I looked for months before pulling the trigger. It has a rare color combination and $200K options package. It is the finest all around sports car I have ever driven!! I have declined my allotment offer for a 12 Cilindri Spider. Having driven the 812 Comp, 812 Comp A, and the 12 Cilindri, I am satisfied with what I own. For me it is a "forever" car. The 812 Comp A is clearly, if one is the original owner, a better investment. I have met a few of these owners and none drive them!!! 95% of the time when I drive the 812 GTS my top is down. Putting the top up on an 812 Comp A is a 2 person job. I prefer pushing a button. The 12 Cilindri is a very, very nice GT car. As a guess, if I were to spec out a 12 Cilindri spider with a similar options package my cost would be $750K+!! My 812 GTS is stock with no aftermarket additions. I will never track it, so the minor performance enhancements of the Comp versions are meaningless to me. The 12 Cilindri is smoother, however I am good with the raw, analog 812 GTS. Mine came with a factory 4 year warranty. I will extend that before it expires in 5/27. I am at the point in life where I am grateful for what I have and am not lusting for more. When the young racers pull along side of me, downshift, and rev their engines, I merely laugh to myself and wave! I like race mode/manual on the open road, sport /bumpy road mode in city traffic. At concours events, the complements keep rolling in. The profit on another car formerly in my collection...paid in full for my 812 GTS. I could not ask for more!!!

I also think the 812 GTS is one of the best modern Ferraris. I love driving it, and if you guys want to know a secret- please do this only in the proper circumstances of warm tires, warm and dry roads, CT Off transforms the car. In all lower modes, including race mode, the rear steer makes the car feel overboosted. This is curtailed significantly with CT Off, it feels far more natural. Just be careful when deploying the power. Not for the faint of heart, but also, not a wild OMG situation with CT off either. Just make sure tires are properly warm (over 100F).

PS, I have 3000+ miles on both my 812 GTS and Comp A… Some DO get driven :)

Funny. I just turned it off for the first time on my morning drive this past weekend and I was blown away at how different the drive was. I couldn’t agree more. Far more enjoyable with CT Off. Ive got 8500 miles on my GTS and Ll likely be doing the next 8500 with CT off.

They must be epic because they sure as hell aren't depreciating....

As a 12 cyl top off car owner already, I can attest how incredible that configuration is.

    2023 812 GTS here
5700 miles (some unusable weeks/months in Michigan, or else I’d definitely have more!)
I had the pleasure of doing the spec and getting the experience from start to finish

    prior to this, I had a 2021 812 SF
I bought it with 2k miles and added a glorious 17k more

the GTS is an amazing car, as others have stated

this engine across the 812 platform seems to always have more to give, it’s pretty incredible

yes, the pre-GPF 812 sounds are better, but even without modifications, the 812 GTS on its own right is still amazing. Unless it’s raining, I always at least have the rear window down when driving so I can hear what everybody else gets to. It’s a great feature.

top up I do occasionally get a squeak, but I agree it’s rare. My wife’s 992.1 targa 4S has far more regular noises from its complex roof mechanism… music up, or top down (or both) - problem solved!
Joking aside - the GTS feels just as solid as its SF brother; I haven’t gotten the sense of sacrificing any rigidity or stability by having a spider.

the trunk is smaller than the SF, but still a great size for supercar standards - and the folding top doesn’t dynamically occupy the trunk, which is great.

consider the suspension lifter to save your front end, depending on your situation / local roads / office or home parking setup. I know it’s been integral for me on both my 812s.

depending on how tall you are - you may want to pay attention to the seats. The all electric seats do give you somewhat less headroom - if you’re over 6’2”, you probably would have trouble driving with the top closed and a hat on.

I agree with others sentiments - it’s nice to have a more “basic” car without a huge fingerprint-laden touchscreen and deep menus to go through to adjust basic functions - the GTS (and the SF) have lots of buttons with dedicated functions , and I find I rarely go into my setup/menus. It’s all relative Though - sure lovers of even older models would say this car is too fancy with its tech.

The trade off is a clunkier entertainment system - but it’s not the reason any of us have this car, and truly , it’s pretty easy to turn the knob to go to my Next track or next radio station.

If you care about sound, the upgraded sound system is nice.

the car is truly a great GT and can absolutely be a daily or near-daily driver.

I throw all season tires on mine to keep driving in dry lower temperatures, and that also has been great - no cold weather issues with the GTS or the SF.

over time - a lot of the things we love about it won’t fade - but its age will start to show relative to exterior designs and more futuristic/modern interiors - but I think it’ll be a while. The driving experience is so good that that stuff won’t matter.

I personally don’t hate the 12c as much as some - but I do absolutely love the 812. I still catch myself standing and staring at it at certain angles and in different lighting.

Those of you in the US may remember that old Toyota Celica marketing campaign - “looks fast”. I think this car embodies that perfectly.

Agree with everything you wrote with the exception of “but its age will start to show relative to exterior designs and more futuristic/modern interiors” as if it’s a negative. The way things are going with respect to exterior design and tech, its dated design and lofi tech, combined with the engine basically being pushed almost to the max, may be its greatest selling point.
