FWIW I didnt know John , however he surly left an impression to many that are here.

Even in his last days not even ever conversing with him , he gave me a heads up that I was going to get banned on P&R . Well it happened 10 days latter ;)

    His last comment to me

" The Americans just don't like you .... or me sometimes "

Yes it'd be a close run race as to whether Moretti had either: 1:More speeding fines/pullovers. 2: More bannings on Fchat. or 3: More arguements with Ian!

It puzzles me that nowhere else in my life have I encountered so many socialists as on fchat. A Ferrari is the very definition of a wealth symbol and the badge and brand is a factor in the appeal for every buyer. Face up to it - if your priority was having the fastest, best handling car, you'd by a Nissan GTR.

Then there's the utter pointlessness of this thread - people who don't live or vote in the USA venting their Trump derangement syndrome, based on nothing more than our tainted media reports. If you wonder why Americans don't like you, it's because they respect good manners. The USA is a very polite place. Australians constantly criticising their country or leaders is not good manners.

In case you haven't noticed Ian, Trump's 'proclamations' in the US have quite a bit of effect here in Aus; not to mention the Libs trying to be Trumpers was one of the reasons they got trounced...
Big difference between 'socialists' (no true socialists on Aus Fchat that I've ever seen) and anti-fascists ( Moretti and me waved the flags!).

Well quite quickly because I'm in the middle of cooking plus I don't want to raise your ire any more than it already is,here are some quick facts,as I see them.

Moretti was one of the most one eyed Ferrari enthusiasts it's been my pleasure to have known and be fortunate for him to call me his friend.

Moretti was one of the weirdest blokes I've known and that started on the first or second night I met him on the Snowy Rally.
    '07.

Moretti was the one bloke who helped me out in various ways pretty much at the pickup of a phonecall,3 off instantly come to mind including a smashed car rescue.

Moretti, because this is basically about his ..umm..predilictions,was all over the shop in his political choices,he only vented on what really got his goat up.

Trump has ......well in my book got nothing Australia wants and Aussie in turn should try to see through this fruitloop and his financial threats worldwide.

Aussie should be trying to do what Murray does, manufacture our own stuff and start to say stuff the rest of the world,Trump is doing just that.

Anyhoo Ian looking forward to a beer/wine or six on GG in a couple of months!

This is an amazing interview with investigative journalist Richard Miniter. A calm, clear and logical analysis of American society and politics. It's over an hour but chock full of wisdom. e.g. at 39:10 he says that political correctness is a form of class warfare - people who've been to university segregating themselves from those who haven't.

Hey - there are faults on both sides of the argument. I certainly don't consider myself anything approaching a socialist, but extremes of both ends of the political spectrum are the problem. We've had excessive influence of 'political correctness' at times and we are currently having and excessive influence of extreme right wing behaviour as a reaction. Both are bad for the general populace, you can argue which is worse, but that depends upon your perspective and where you sit on the social and economic scale.
What I dislike is graft, corruption, hypocrisy, greed, dishonesty and incompetence and we seem to be getting that in spades at the moment unfortunately, regardless of how it's dressed up. Trump is lining his own pockets and that of his family and cronies and a lot of small people are suffering. What goes around comes around though and hopefully the US Constitution survives enough for decent people to clean up afterwards.

Trump and his family were very, very wealthy before he entered politics.

How do you explain the extreme wealth of the Clinton’s, Obama’s, and Biden’s, given that they never had any serious money before politics?

I think that a lot of Trump's 'wealth' was (and is?) rather smoke and mirrors...after all a Russian bank basically bailed him out when he went bust some years ago.
He's not as successful a deal maker as he likes to make out I think...

Anyone who has got to the top of US politics has had to raise a LOT of money to get there. I don't know the financial moves of all those involved, and I'm sure much of it is murky on all sides, but Trump is much more blatant about it. After all, I'm sure there are general (sensible) political rules on receiving gifts over a certain value in Aus politics as well as UK politics. If someone decided to give Albanese or whomever is in charge of the Liberal party now a $400 million jet, there might be a few questions asked?

As I said, no left wing or ring wing parties have a mortgage on the greed, corruption or hypocrisy stakes. It fits all colours of politics. I've been reading Private Eye magazine here for 15+ years that details all of this sort of stuff on both sides of politics and the media in the UK as well as in the corporate world and it happens all over. The Conservative party here has taken a lot of dodgy Russian money over the last 20 years or so and some very unsuitable people have ended up with knighthoods or in the House of Lords. In the past the same has happened in the Labor party.

You may not like 'political correctness' as defined by a 'left wing' party, but is that really any different to Trump attacking news sources that he doesn't agree with? If he is such a proponent of free speech, why is he attacking sections of the media he doesn't agree with? Playing the man and not the topic, or shooting the messenger or whatever phrase you wish to use!
