Hello friends. The button to open my glovebox does not function and I'm told it's a control unit problem and part is not sold separately. How common is this and any solution if you are familiar with the issue?

Thanks in advance for the support.

Some times, using the key fob to lock / unlock the car 3 times will solve issues related to doors, windows or glove box.

I've had luck with the key fob trick, also you might try turning the power completely off at the battery and reset the entire car.

Key fob trick unfortunately did not work for me this afternoon. Let's try then the other trick but I beleive my mechanic has tried already resetting by the diagnostic tool.

I am aware of the emergency pull, we even fabrikated a stronger pull thing but it's annoying to go there when I need sth on a Ferrari.

You need to find out if power is getting to the glovebox solenoid when you press the switch by probing the wires. If not, then there will be an issue with either the fuse or the relay most likely.

Hi everyone. I’m having some problems getting my glove box release to work. I’ve checked the fuse and removed the relay and tested it and the relay is fine. I tried locking and unlocking the car three times from the fob if I’m understanding that correctly and that didn’t work. The switch is brand new. I have no idea what to do next, but I find it odd that I’m only getting 4.5V at the fuse port. When I push the switch with the car running nothing happens. There is no click on the relay. Any ideas?

I've had trouble before with the trunk release, fuel door, and glove box buttons not working on my (612) car. This always seemed to be tied to using the battery master cutoff switch, which I've had to use on many occasions. Then I read the owner's manual a little more carefully. It states:

On every (battery) reconnection and before starting the engine, proceed as follows:
    - unlock and lock the doors with the remote control. (I only do the sequence one time)

I've been doing that procedure ever since, and I haven't had any more trouble with my solenoid release buttons. I'm not exactly sure what is going on there, but I think the lock/unlock sequence with the key fob helps to reestablish communication with the body control module or other peripherals. I hope this helps.

Just to add to the list of reasons, in this case a dumb one, why your glovebox might not be opening on the switch... there is actually a menu option in the car setup page on the instrument cluster that allows you to disable the button.

(I definitely didn't spend a couple of hours of checking fuses, relays, switches and wiring, battery resetting and lots of locking and unlocking before coming to this realisation...)

Could the car be in "valet" mode?
