I never understood this.....the majority of the players are Canadian...and the majority of names engraved on the Stanly Cup are Canadian....a better benchmark would be the international tournaments, where the teams are comprised of 100% of their countrymen....and with all that said, who won the 4 Nations Cup a few months ago
With the realignment after 1980 or so, who knows. If they did it the old way, if they want viewership: Montreal/Boston Montreal/Rangers Philadelphia/Rangers Detroit/Chicago Chicago/St Louis Toronto/Detroit https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Stanley_Cup_champions
If Dallas is lucky Pete Debour has coached his last game for the Stars. I really disagree with pulling Ottenger and in particular, the way he did it. Rather humiliating for a guy who I didn't think was responsible for the 2 goals he let by.
DeBour said after the game “…the reality is, if you go back to last year's playoffs, he's lost six of seven games to Edmonton. We gave up two shots and two goals in an elimination game. It was partly to spark our team and wake them up, and partly knowing the status quo had not been working, and it was a pretty big sample size."
He made it further than the Knights coach the last 2 years. Otter deserved to get benched. He had a great 2 rounds but in the WCF he was pathetic.
Awaiting tomorrow's Game One ! I was in waaaaay Northern Ontario at float plane fly-in fishing camp and missed games 2 and on of the Conference finals. Hope it goes seven games
This Oilers team looks different this year. McDavid is on a planet on his own.....nobody even close to him.
Florida had them but the Oilers ended up dominating. Its seems to be their MO this year. You could tell in OT it was just a matter of time.
Islanders and Oilers back to back finals - Islanders win the first one, Oilers win the rematch Pittsburgh Detroit back to back finals - Detroit wins the first one, Pittsburgh wins the rematch Florida makes it back to back - loses the 1st one to Vegas, wins the 2nd one last year Florida Oilers back to back.....
Only 3 rematches in the last 41 years. NYI/Edm....Gretzky wins first cup after losing the previous year. Det/Pit....Crosby wins first cup after losing the previous year Fla/Edm....McDavid????? I know there are huge sports cities in the USA......but Edmonton is absolutely electric. The whole city is into it. Born and raised here, I remember the 80s but now that I'm older, it really is amazing how one team can bring a whole city (and country for that matter) together in such a positive way. 3 more wins!!!
You may possibly be confusing 'sports cities' with 'ONLY sport city'. Such as Green Bay, San Antonio, Oklahoma City... But then we have Jacksonville, Memphis, Sacramento, Portland, Orlando, where the city only gets behind them when they are winning - big.
