    Hi everyone,

I’m a first-time Ferrari buyer and looking at a car I really like — but it’s priced over $100K above market value. The reason is that it’s heavily modified with some impressive tuning and performance upgrades (3rd Party).

While the build looks exciting, I have a few concerns I’d love your input on:

    • Since the car is modified, I assume Ferrari won’t honor or extend the factory warranty — or it’s already voided.

    • I’m worried the car may have been pushed hard or abused, and without warranty coverage, I’d be fully exposed if something like the transmission fails shortly after buying.
What are my alternative options to get some level of confidence in the car’s mechanical health? Are there independent Ferrari specialists or inspection services that can give me real (even if not 100%) peace of mind?

Any advice or experience would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

I’d steer well clear. Even at market price. And yes warranty will already be void.

Correct warranty voided. I’d think like…why heavily mod a car and not push it.

Modded cars are worth less, not more.

If you buy it you would never sell it . Warranty void your going have to pay for any issues yourself . Like others have said it’s worth less not more .
I would touch a tuned car
Some carbon goodies or wheels tho are fine they don’t effect warranty it’s tunes-and exhaust mods that do
Normally any mods definitely don’t add value

I’d recommend buying from a Ferrari main dealer they have to under Ferrari approved check everything and put right anything wrong plus incude a 2 year power warranty with it (maybe 1 year in USA )
You’ll pay slightly higher premium but at least you know you’ll have a spot on car

And with over 700 HP I wonder why a mod is needed?

I have had my F8 spider for about 9 months and love the car. It is everything I hoped it would be. My only question with this post is simply this-with 710 hp right out of the box what “mods, tuning and performance upgrades” do you really think you need?

My honest suggestion is simply put on your running shoes and run as fast as you can away from this frightful offering!!!

Yeah, I would run from any modded Ferrari (or supercar for that matter). The factory warranty will be gone and any following issues will be on your back. Nothing “Ferrari” is economical to repair and this isn’t a Porsche where there is a ton of aftermarket support.

The F8 is no slouch despite its meager 710hp, but if you want more HP then just buy a different car :D

I think. this too but I know plenty of people around me with turbo cars...488, F8, 720S 765LT, Lambo's etc that boost up the HP numbers. Most do it because they can and for bragging rights. 1 guy does mod every car he has and takes them to the drag strip. He currently has I believe he said the most powerful McLaren 765. He is on Dragtimes sometimes with Brooks doing high 8 sec 1/4 miles!

I am a road course track day guy. 710hp is way more than you need on any road course track here in the USA. At this point in my life and age I prefer to keep the car stock so I get better trade in value or make it easier to sell. I did do Novitec springs on a 488 with HRE wheels and that was a good fun mod. I have not done anything in the year I've owned my F8 though.

Agree with all the above comments. 100% it's been ragged to f. Maybe it didn't last long, cost an unforseen fortune and now it's time to pass the buck. (BIG bucks)

I would add that with such mods the vehicle is likely / possibly dangerous. Any issues will cost more than you think as there are just not many companies that could deal with a heavily modded car. Many would likely refuse to touch it.
You pay seller, he immediately bins his phone sim because he bought it to sell the car. A £5 phone sim comes with £5 credit in the UK. No ID required.
When I say dangerous I mean to you. A vehicle can always be repaired, even frankensteined. You cannot be frankensteined, it's just a film.
You could never visit a Ferrari dealer. Ferrari will never sell you a car worldwide. This is strictly controlled in Italy.
No pictures (on t'internet) that identify you or even the state you live in.
Probably a good idea to not let anyone take any pictures - good luck with this one. There are people that would love to identify you with the vehicle just to lawn you off to Ferrari for brownie points that don't exist.
Despite what people say to your face most F8 / Ferrari owners will immediately talk negatively behind your back to the rest of the world. First hand witness to this numerous times for supercars generally. Money is not the root of all evil, people are.

On top of the concerns people have rightfully raised, I'd put the odds at nearly 100% that the car is worse to drive because of the mods. Particularly if they messed with the suspension. Even if it was $100k under market, I'd keep looking.

I also agree with @Zarakoff: buy from a dealer. That isn't the only way to have a good experience, but it improves your odds. You will pay a premium, but for good reason - you have a far lower risk of adverse selection, and you'll get a well-maintained car with a warranty. Depending on your plans, it may also pay to start building a relationship with a dealer and with Ferrari generally.

There are plenty of nice CPO F8s waiting for a new home.

Hum I would by of an owner that way you truly know the life of the car
Then ask if he would object to getting it checked by Ferrari

He's been spouting anti-Italian rhetoric a lot lately. The other day, we went to this little Michelin-starred Italian spot we frequent to grab a bite and discuss business. We were wrapping up our second round of bottomless salad and breadsticks when he casually says, "Ivan, I've been thinking lately—we should start going to Red Lobster instead of Olive Garden." I couldn’t believe what I was hearing. I thought for sure he’d laugh and say, "Gotcha!" but he didn’t. I couldn’t even bring myself to touch the 4-cheese ravioli Chef Mike made for me.

Now to hear this? Unbelievable. No more ****ing Ziti, no more Columbus Day, no more Ferrari. I guess it's all Cheddar Bay Biscuits and Teslas.
