Thank you for that, I was wondering why I sometimes set off the alarm when I open the passenger side, I wonder if that can be disabled

I have a disgusting amount of time between meetings today and I plan to use it rereading the manuals, again. I’ll share if I find it.

The trials of a new car - let alone one of these.

Try ChatGtp. Load the digital manual. Than just ask what you want to know.

Or I could just read it. If I wanted AI to make up stuff I'd be driving a Tesla

I haven't heard mirror rattle in a few 296s including mine. I know some folks with dash or door rattles that were all chased down and fixed.

When I first got 296 I was thinking it was sometimes too loud for calls. It's almost unbearable to keep it below 3k rpm where it isn't that loud and some calls are longer than E Drive. So I just pull plan enough time so I can pull over if needed for longer calls.

I used to think it (and 4RS initially) were too loud for long drives at times but after living with each, I've done few hours drives and love their sound and volume.

Curious what tires do you have on each? I never owned a 992 3RS but did a 992 GT3 in parallel with 296 and had driven briefly 992 3RS during that time back to bak with 296. Have never tried SF90 so no personal comparison to it.

But on all Michelin 4S tires on the street, I felt the 296 was more agile but videogame-y than the 992 GT3/RS.

And the 992 GT3/RS amazingly better agility-wise than prior 911s and far more confidence inspiring using its power than 296 especially in the wet, with its beefier steering weight and especially feedback.

The driver side mirror on my GTB vibrates. I don’t really mind it and will probably mention it when the maintenance service comes up. If they have to tear stuff down and make a production out of it, I may not even authorize the repair. I’ve learned that the hard way with German cars. They go in for one problem and come back with two new ones.

Own a 765 and then a little mirror rattle won’t concern you. I’m surprised the side view mirrrors don’t fall out. However, I’ve always found it charming.

He can have whatever opinion but I had a 992 GT3 and it’s truly not even close. I believe one would have to be a certifiable Porsche maniac (or just certifiable) to choose the GT3. Worst part of GT3 is the ride. It sucks. And they’re not quick, really. I was very happy to sell and I made some profit so win win.

I have a rattle from the driver's side door speaker. Wonder if anyone else had this issue and whether it was resolved.

That's easy. 296 over 992 GT3. But that wouldn't be the tough choice for me.I had two 992 GT3s, one PDK and one stick, and sold them both, front end was super amazing but I hated the sound, didn't sound nasty cranky complex like 991s and older. It also parked big and felt big inside but sound was the deal killer.

Went to Evora GT stick to replace stick and 991.2 3RS to replace the PDK one. Then added a 4RS.

The 4RS has me never driving the 991.2 3RS now so the real question for me today would be 4RS or 296?

I'd say 4RS over 991.2 3RS over 296 if I had to choose just one "not daily" non-stick among those mentioned, and I will probably sell the 991.2 3RS if I keep not driving it.

It's all personal of course but re: ride -

On one 992 I took PSI to ~38 and it rode a lot better.

On another I did the S/T programming and it rode even better than that, well enough for me, though less smooth than most modern Ferrari, Lamborghini, and McLaren.

I know I'm in the minority thinking it's fast enough even though it's only moderately quick by modern standards.

Interesting. I had a 4RS. I like me 296 AF infinitely better. Maybe not that much- but quite a lot. Faster. More special in many different ways. Sharper. Better suspension. Feels smaller and more nimble. I even prefer the sound.

My favorite manual is my 991.2 GT3 with Dundon upgraded exhaust, throttle body and airbox. Power, sound and driver engagement. Hard to beat the combination.

    My two favorite cars.

I’m DD’ing mine but I’m still in the honeymoon phase as I got it last Friday.

All the tech is really nice as I can get work done on the road.

I wish I could figure out how to the the “MyFerrari connect” stuff going - have an email to Ferrari sent to try and remedy it.

The haptics on the newest version of the steering wheel is great.

    Wireless CarPlay is flawless.

Sprung for a carbon key today - should have ordered one in the first place.

    EXACTLY the same with me.
RACE feels good, but i keep getting the tinyest feeling of disconnect with the car somehow.
Putting it in CT OFF really gives a more natural interaction and at least the semblance of being in control.

I have no problems with the haptics.
Would i prefer normal buttons, yes of course.

I drive it on the throttle/diff to rotate through a corner though, because I don't trust/feel the front axle.
The diff or electronic do the weirdest thing though in tight low speed corners, where it suddenly and unexpectedly seems to make you overrotate so you have to quickly consciously open the steering wheel because it happens too fast to let it happen naturally. Very strange feeling. Difficult to describe.

I have one rattle in the firewall behind me that is driving me nuts sometimes.

Awesome suspension, soaks up bumps real well, comfortable yet very capable. This is something Porsche can not do. This is something Aston Martin can not do. My Lambo was more comfy than Porsche and Aston, but it didn't have the feeling of chassis control the Ferrari has. Never had a Mclaren, so can't compare.

Re: Porsche. My absolute favorite was my 991.2 GT3, that car could do everything, felt like a goldylocks car, should have never sold that one. I did not care for my 992 GT3RS that came after it, car is waaaayyy to harsh on the street and with no luggage space completely unusable, sold it rather quickly. My GT4RS i like on the track, but waaaayyyy too loud, and suspension can't cope with the performance.

Conclusion: Porsche for the track, Ferrari for the street.

    Absolutely adore this 296 !

More time with the car and Im now used to the haptics. They do kinda suck but you just have to slow your swipes and they can respond fine. You can’t quick swipe like we’re used to on our phone. Slower, deliberate swiping and problem mostly solved.

Definitely like the 991.2 GT3 manual a lot, though engine sound wise not as good as 991 3RS or to me 4RS. Looking low key for a high mile one with yellow stitching. Will give the 992.2 GT3 manual a shot if it sounds more like the 991 but I doubt it will. It should for sure be less harsh.

991.2 Engine sound is now off the charts with Dundon upgrades- and faster too as it now pulls hard all the way to redline. Without upgrading the airbox the car didn’t pull as hard above 6,000 RPM.

The 4RS has cool intake sound but doesn’t have particularly good exhaust sound- IMO. I tried to fix that and the lost my intake sound and gave up.

    Fun stuff.

PS. My 991.2 has yellow stitching.

I could never get a clear answer on the difference. What is better about the carbon key? They both look like they have yellow faces from what I have seen, but I admit that it never made sense.

I’ve seen a couple of them that look a little different. As soon as I get it I’ll share.

It was an emotional decision not a smart one.

The metal casing around the border is replaced with carbon. I’ll do it for the VS, but seemed a lot of $ for very little.
