My 812 GTS has the CF wheel with LEDs with black leather grips and airbag cover, though the rest of my interior is a mix of Nero and Rosso Ferrari/red leather. Ferrari quoted me $21,000 for a new CF wheel with red leather pieces, which is a non starter. Any other suggestions for achieving a factor level look/finish at a better price point? I spoke with a high end steering wheel refinishing company and they were concerned with getting a match on the color and grain of the leather.

Just for info - many of the leathers used come from a manufacturer in the UK called Bridge of Weir https://www.bridgeofweirleather.com
I have had some custom luggage made for my F12 and the manufacturer was able to exactly match the leather in my F12 using their leather. Your refinishing company may be able to get it from them.

I spoke with them and they do McLaren, etc. but not Ferrari. So I still need to find some actual Rosso Ferrari leather...don't need much but enough for the wheel and airbag cover.

Ferrari switched to using the Italian leather company Poltrona Frau way back in 2009 when Luca di Montezemolo was CEO of Ferrari and was a major shareholder in Poltrona. It has been the standard leather used in every model from the California onwards.

Why don't you just give your current steering wheel to a leather painter?

If you find a really professional company, they will use the same paint, as the automakers use and they will be able to make the color exactly like you need it. You will keep the OEM leather and everything.

I have never heard of this? I thought the leather was colored in a tanning/dyeing process or something?

Yes, in the factory probably the coloring process is different, but the paint is the same. The guys here just spray the paint with something like a tiny airbrush, after preparing the leather via special chemicals, of course. They can mix the paint to get an exact color match and the durability of the painted part is the same if not better than OEM.

My F12 has a tan interior, which had some scuffs on the usual place of the driver's seat when I bought it and they've made them absolutely invisible. My TR also had some wear on the seats and because I wanted to keep everything original, I just asked them to paint the problematic areas on the seats, instead of reupholstering them.

You can search in Youtube and the web in general, but you will need to find a company, that really knows what it is doing.

There are interior shops in the US who can handle that job. Some probably can even source from an OEM supplier. Depending where you’re located, there might be a shop that can do it

That's exactly what I am trying to find. The leather sourcing is the challenge.

Just texted my interior guy and he confirmed they can source OEM Ferrari leather. Of note, they've done a full interior (and I mean full) on an 812 before.

I don't have anything handy but it looks identical to factory wheels - stitching and all.
