Hi all, I wanted to share the news and joy of finally finding "the right" Maranello for me! Some of you are aware that I've been searching for about 4 years and many have been kind enough to chime in with thoughts, insight and knowledge. Her name is Aurora and I can truly say that she was worth the wait as this is the cleanest and best sorted driver Maranello (with 27K miles) that I've come across during this time. I passed on many examples with half the miles that just didn't look cared for. I took delivery of the car with I think everything it came with from the factory and she is in fantastic condition. If one should in fact buy the owner(s), and not the car, I don't think I could have asked for better ownership and maintenance history. I opted to use who I believe to be a very picky tech for the PPI and the only surprise, if you can call it that, was the car soon needing wiper blades! The previous owner of about 12 years knew the car inside-out and couldn't have been more straightforward, accommodating and patient with me. Shout out to Plycar for a seamless and perfect process and to Mike Berman for countless conversations (and for recommending Plycar) Sorry for the teaser pics but delivery was an event! I will post more pics once things are settled and I have time to start my album. I hope to be a long term owner and with the help of members here, get to know and enjoy the car to the max. I forgot to ask if anyone happens to have audio/video of a stock 575 with Tubi mufflers? Also, please let me know if anyone is selling a recommended exhaust. I'm looking for a nice startup rumble that a Ferrari V12 deserves...nothing obnoxious.
Congratulations…..and good decision on waiting for the right one to come along. Looking forward to seeing photos.
Congrats buddy. Nice color. Suits the car well. Mine has stock exhaust, until someone uploads their exhaust video, you can check this:
Congrats Payman! A nice second gen Tubi will give it that classic V12 bass associated with the "in-period" Maranello sound.
Thank you. I ended up with a 575 but what's not to love?! I'm hoping to post pics soon...somewhere other than my garage.
Thank you Peter and right?. I came close to several other purchases, some not even Maranellos, but it feels good to have ended up here.
Thank you! I wasn't out for one in Argento but all the colors/options just worked with this one...especially the silver deviated stitching. I appreciate the videos and would be very happy with that exhaust. Can I assume those are just mufflers and no center/X-pipes? I did go for the valve bypass and there's barely a difference. Speaking with another knowledgeable F-chatter who shared thoughts, I'm learning that apparently the early 575s have a slightly different exhaust set up that might actually be a better fit for the Tubi mufflers.
Thank you Craig! You certainly answered a lot of questions during my search, much appreciated. I'm glad you are rather local to me and hope to soon stop by again.
Thank you Joe. So are there different gen Tubi mufflers for the 550/575? Similar to different stage Capristo exhausts and how would I be able to identify them? The 2 videos from J.A. would both be plenty and I believe still appropriate for a GT.
Congratulations enjoy her. Maranellos are amazing car. You will have a great time and create amazing memories with long trips as they where intended
Thank you, I intend to do just that as this is a "2 birds with one stone" move for me. A gentleman's coupe and a Ferrari, both of which are firsts in my garage. Incidentally, the last silver/black car I had was the Lotus Esprit Final Edition and the smell of this car takes me back to that time.
So here are a few pics before I leave town for a week. TBH, I first wanted to take the tint off as I think the lines and contrasts of the 575, especially in this color combo, are best showcased with clear glass. But 1) I'm not getting things done and fast as I had hoped and 2) I'm wanting to first have more of a driving routine and better gauge sun exposure and my ability to care for and condition the leather. And maybe today's favorite picture since I've been waiting quite a while to put this license plate frame on my POS 1996 work truck that I've owned since new. It's never been garaged and gets more love notes from the local handymen and gardeners than I can count! Image Unavailable, Please Login
Thanks Terry! You've certainly been a valuable source throughout my search and of the reasons I found my way from the 550 to the 575. Though plan was/is for a manual conversion using OEM parts, I'm having a blast getting to know the F1, now in my own car. Even if I buy the parts, I'll probably take my time and see just how much the F1 grows on me. As mentioned, the exhaust valve bypass barely made a difference so I'm hoping mufflers give me the results I'm hoping for. The videos J.A. shared above sound great, I especially like the characteristics on the titanio and not sure what makes it sound different from the one on the rosso. I was ready to move on a clean used set of 575 Tubis but another active member wholeheartedly recommended the Kreissieg exhust as there is also a used 550 set currently listed (link below). Those, however, have 90 degree elbows and are set up to be used with their x-pipe so I don't know if I can feasibly have them modified to fit the 575 factory pipes...or just go for the Tubis? https://ebay.us/m/aMEFRI Anyway, I'd appreciate hearing from anyone who knows of an alternate/recommended option I can buy at around the same price range.
550 and 575M mufflers are interchangeable, so they will fit fine. It is only the stuff in the middle that is different.
Thanks Terry though the Kreissieg listing has a 90 degree elbow, which won't work with the factory pipes. After several conversations, and reading some of your posts, I'm now looking into the resonator delete but going with straight pipes to follow what Ferrari did with later 575s.
I will probably have a Fabio center H-pipe for sale pretty soon. About the same results as straight pipes, except no resonance.
Please keep me posted. I'm itching to hear her purr and knocking on doors. If you had to guess, do you think those pipes and factory mufflers would get me closer to the gray or red car video above?
