Brutal game for the Oilers. They just looked gassed all night. The only bright spot for them was McDavid finally getting a goal in the series, but outside of that they’ve got an uphill battle in Florida. I hope they can pull it off…
I still have trouble accepting even the mere presence of NHL teams in a place where ice in the winter is extremely rare. Frankly, I hate it when either Florida team raises the Cup. And they do it with maddening frequency! (And I'm a former Floridian myself.)
Yes, it does snow and ice occasionally here in Atlanta, but in Tampa and Fort Lauderdale? I'm not sure it ever has, measurably.
Marchand has more Stanley Cup Finals goals than Auston Matthews has total playoff goals. People can say what they want about Perry and Marchand, but those two show up in the biggest moments and deliver.
Will this series be wrapped up tonight or are we going the distance? It's been quite an amazing series in general with three of them simply stunning. NHL may want to milk it for one more. It seems that Edmonton can, at times, grind it out with Florida and take a W. However for the other games it seems they don't click and Florida simply takes it away by a multi goal margin. Marchand/Benny has stepped up. If we see shaky goaltending and/or not the best from McDavid/Draisaitl it's going be done in 6. I'm two hours south of Edmonton in Calgary this week and the part would be crazy if it heads to 7.
Bennett wins Conn Smythe. Congratulations NHL on the finishing touches on the continued eroding of this sport by allowing dirty players to reach new heights. Statistically the most penalized player in the playoffs and that’s not counting the dozens of no-calls. Falling on goalies. Inflicting numerous head injuries primarily with elbows. Taking key players out of the series leading to wins and advances. If the league have a **** about integrity or player safety this guy would have been suspended first round and the subsequent goals never would have happened, but it’s clear they don’t care. I’m not an Oilers fan but it’s generally difficult to be a hockey fan these days when this is the direction play is going. Really disappointing… Image Unavailable, Please Login
I don’t care for the MMA style of hockey, but you’d think the NHL would take a clue from the NFL on the head injury issue…. I’m guessing ratings improve with more big hits.
I see a lot of people blaming Skinner but I don't see it. FL knew how to stop the Oilers from scoring. I heard today that FL beat the record for being ahead time for a 6 game series.
