    Hello there

Had a bit of a plough through the archives as best I could, but I could not find a definitive answer on options for replacing the Sport Switch - part 180735. This is long NLA at the Factory now, but there are other two position switches such as the rear fog light switch (for Euro spec cars) part 180733 which is still available from the Factory.

Is it just a case of swapping over the cover/label and bingo - you have a Sport Switch, or is it more complicated than that? If not, I will grab some stock from the Factory ASAP!
(I work at Maranello Classic Parts...in Purchasing! :D)

Hi Andrew, this is Omar (you get emails from me sporadically)

Your right the sport switch is a 2 position switch like the reading light switch or the rear fog light switch.

someone would have to try it (ie swap and see if works the same) but assuming it does then its indeed just a matter of getting the label/relabeling from one of the sticky companies

I never tried the swap but I did relabel a reading light switch to serve as a exhaust valve control switch for that very purpose.

Couldn't someone just 3D-print the specific switch cover common to the Sport/Foglight functions?
On my F355 I had to sacrifice the fog light switch to get the Sport switch usable again.

Not needed as the sticky companies have the OEM sport button design via either a sticker or engraving. The actual housing /body/internals I *believe* are identical as long as you control for the type of switch.

Precisely not - the switch cover is what makes the difference on these cars between push-button switches and toggle switches. The Sport function is a toggle switch whereas the trunk and fuel filler cap release functions are push-button switches. Again the only design difference is the switch cover.

We are saying the same thing....Note I said as long as you control for the type of swtich.

Again, the switches come in two main types: momentary and toggle (there are technically a few more like the secondary exact green color varies, additional finishing, etc but beyond scope here).

Again as long as you start start with the right base type, the difference is mostly cosmetic. No reason to clone/build new internals when OEM/stock internals of the two types remain available?

Having gone through this to design my own custom switch, I can tell you the cheapest/easiest way to get a toggle is repurpose one of the map light type switches.

The Sport switch itself came in 2 different versions. Given they are NLA and extremely $$ used, I don't have any spares in my parts collection :-/

Again never tried but if the readlight switch does indeed work the same functionally its an easy swap. I never tried as had no reason to try.

I'm not talking about the base of the switch which is always the same but only about the cover, which makes the difference between toggle and push button.
It would be great is someone could reproduce the toggle cover which always wears out as it's a poor design.

The sticky companies do rebuild the broken ones FYI, assuming you have one on your car that just isn't working anymore. The issue I had with that was that getting one switch sorted did not meet their minimum order amount, but let me know if anyone is doing an order and wouldn't mind my switch tagging along :)
