My lights just shipped! :D
I guess they are shipping in batches. Does anyone have an idea of when the rest will all be shipped? My car is due in on Saturday for some work, and I would love to have the new lights swapped in at the same time; otherwise, I may not get to do this until September.
CNJ - I thought we were having a wife swapping... er... I mean a HEADLIGHT SWAPPING party at your place? Kevin
Yes, but it would have to wait till September. This is a crazy summer as my youngest heads off to college. So, not a lot of spare time till he leaves. Even if I get my headlights swapped out earlier, I would still love to host a BBQ/Headlight swap at my house when I can. Having a home lift makes so many things more comfortable.
Got an update from Founders - they are shipping based on the date orders were received, with the goal of having all “group buy” orders out by the end of the month.
Their customer service has been excellent. Having a time getting the smaller lights off to get it to the paint shop - they've been fantastic walking me through it
Anybody getting the lenses PPF'd as soon as you get these? I'll likely do that as soon as they come in.
I'm interested - but the only product I found is this one: Ferrari F430 (05-10) Headlight Covers - which doesn't have a good review... Any other options?! Kevin
I am a DIY kinda guy, but in my experience/opinion, applying PPF is a bit of an art form and requires some experience to get it perfect. I’ll be dropping mine off at local reputable shop. They quoted $200, to do before or after they are installed on the car, all the same.
I went with XPEL from https://www.luxeautoconcepts.net/products/p-2006-ferrari-f430-headlight-kit. It was significantly cheaper when I bought it in March
The lights are not a complicated shape. You can just buy a sheet that's big enough and cut the edges on your own. I plan on doing it off the car so I can get all the way to the end o the lens. The kits all stop short of the edge, leaving a visible line over time. I have some leftover STEK film from my local PPF guy, but Xpel is a great option and you can buy small sections on amazon.
How was the fit? And what "shade" did you go with? I'm slowly carbonizing my car and leaning towards some amount of "smoke".... Kevin
Well, my car going in for work has been delayed a few weeks, so maybe there is a chance I can have the new headlights PPF'd when they arrive and installed when the other work is done on the car.
For the guys getting the paint ready headlights, was the original paint damaged? Most of the headlights I see that are in bad shape just seem need new lenses, the paint underneath appears to be okay. buying just the new headlight lens replacements was not an option?
The lenses are not available separately. Maybe they make it an option in the future but it didn't sound like that was in the cards.
Sorry, I mean just the lenses were not available separately from Founders Parts. Either way, having the assembly already separated makes it super easy with no risk to damaging your stock lights.
