With Le Mans and Montreal F1 I didn't even realize we had Indycar this weekend...but the press coverage and promotion of this series is really poor...

Fox is doing a great job, but only in the USA, and they're doing everything for Indycar marketing wise. Roger just don't know how to promote the series

Of course here in France with Simon, Romain and Pourchaire gone it gets less coverage. Pity it is my favorite series, will keep a closer eye on the calendar.

Amazing that Roger has a promotional blind spot.

who broadcasts IndyCar in Europe? Eurosport, or does it vary by country?

at the moment half the grid is from Europe so you’d think they would see the low hanging fruit there

It does vary by country, for France it is Canal + a pay per view, same that shows F1 and Moto GP.

F1 viewership has gone way down here since a main public channel lost it years ago so keeping Indycar on a pay channel will keep it fringe alas.

Just a few years ago I wanted to suggest to Gil de Ferran my former Formula Ford teammate in 1988 to encourage an autumn Indycar series in Europe: Mugello, Paul Ricard, Barcelona, Algarve...it is such a waste that the series has that incredibly early season end just because of some US ball games...I never got around to contacting him about that -we had not been in touch for years- and now he is so sadly gone. I would love to see that idea happen but it needs the right Indycar personality behind the dream/idea/project.

I like that idea, but if IndyCar is afraid of competing with NFL in America I assume they’re afraid of competing with football in Europe too.

they really do need to expand their season, time wise if not races. a six month off season makes it hard to keep momentum with all but the most die hard of fans

Yes that is far too short a calendar.

Well with my humble idea they could have a different audience who would love to see them in person, a dedicated cup for the "autumn series" I am sure there would be big crowds, never mind the "colonial cricket or clown rugby" games in the new world;-) Sorry like to tease the US ball games;-) Plus people have ways to record races on their TV so...

I know when they raced in the Uk in the 70's people were in awe and the early 2000 races in Germany and the UK were very popular though building an oval dry race only track in rainy UK was lunacy. I would just do it on road courses, those I mentioned which would have warm weather even in that season.

That could have worked a decade or two ago.
There is no certainty that a US series would be welcome in Europe now in the present politico-economic climate.

I actually think it'll work quite well right now. Lots of european drivers in the series and doing well. Indycar has risen in popularity in Europe as well especially in recent years. Tickets MUCH cheaper than F1. Traditional F1 tracks losing their place left right and center, which opens up to Indycar going there (none of this ''non compete clause'' that was at those tracks to speak of anymore then).

Seen from that angle, you could be right.
Someone has to take the risk; Indycar, the teams, the promoters, European circuits?
But also bear in mind that some of the US teams sponsors are unknown in Europe. Would they be interested ?
Europe misses a top open-wheel series since F2 became exclusively part of the F1 circus.
Could an Autumn Indycar series in Southern Europe fill that void ?

I like the idea of a autumn indycar series. Pretty good point RE US sponsors but at the same time the Americans would still watch those races with sponsors visible.

I don't think there are many "arms length" sponsors in Indycar anyway

Indycar at Elkhart one of the purest old fashioned racing weekends, I love Elkhart the track, the Spa Francorchamps of the US, the area, the nature, the town, the big and small lakes for a swim at the end of the day :). The people are really nice and welcoming.

Wine for me though, no beer, sorry, a scandalous statement there, I know, shoot me;).

I usually say the weak link among the RLL drivers is Graham Rahal. However, he had a fine P6 today.

well I think that prize is given to Devlin :p

I was talking more about the team overall. every now and then they nail it...Toronto '23, Indy GP last year, they're capable of delivering great equipment....sometimes. if they can make it a trend they'd be a great team.
