I still seem Lewis as a top quartile F1 race car driver, not primarily a spokesmodel What I have been getting at (poorly) is Ferrari loves to sell cars and stuff and supports their sponsors Lewis can be an incredible contributor to that, as evidenced by his all in support of the new F1 movie (from Apple)
What surprised me the most, and it is one of the things I did not expect, is his discipline, it is very impressive," added the Monegasque, celebrating his teammate for the way he's able to branch out into other industries outside the sport without sacrificing his focus on his F1 career. "I remember seeing him managing so many different things, and I was like: 'This has to be hard', but then you look at how organised everything is, you can understand he is just 200% focused on racing and then everything is super-well organised for these other projects to run smoothly." "That is something I will take as an example for me, because we've all got passions, we've got projects outside of racing, but obviously for all of us, the most important is that we stay focused on racing, and Lewis is very, very impressive at that," Leclerc concluded. https://www.gpblog.com/en/news/how-hamilton-manages-to-shock-leclerc-day-in-and-day-out-at-ferrari
I've been involved in motorsport most of my life, both as a team owner (F3) and as a race driver. As a driver, your first adversary, the one that matters he most, is the one who has the same tool you have. That's the story about who is the better driver, the one who is ahead having the same car you drive. That is about who is alpha in the garage, who has more weigh with the team, who is the fastest, the one the engineers listen the most to, as the other one is worse, slower, more incompetent with the team's tool. Then the car itself is benchmarked against others, and it could perform better than some and worse than many, but as a driver, believe me, your first enemy is your team-mate. When you are faster than him, the team listens to you more, you earn more respect, and the loser, the slower driver, is very much hurt in his pride and ego. There's more life than being at the track, you spend many many hours and days with your team between races. There's an alpha dog in every garage, a doberman, and there's the other, always a caniche. So far this season, it's clear who is who in most of the teams.
Bingo, absolutely this. And isn't it funny how teamLH has been hammering down everyones throats that he's beat some of his teammates regularly but now that he's being absolutely destroyed, suddenly the teammate battle is not important anymore?
It’s important and with the respect to LH now one didnt need more than 1 brain cell to know that Charles is and would be faster. Its the hate LH crowd enjoying that when it was UTTERLY obvious that would be the case lol.
I continue to question what the point was spending 100 million on a has been that apparently everyone knows would be slower than Leclerc rather than, I dunno..the tech side of things
The move brought focus/attention and F1 loved it as a sport with respect to promotion and clicks/social-useless media etc. Objectively it was a poor decision given the car is worse and LH has not at all improved vs his last 2 years at Mercedes. The Corporate Portfolio has done well with the move for Ferrari. As a strict racing move its not shown to be effective. The problem is not this move at all - the car is the problem. Halfway almost now and there is zero chance they take the WCC. Paddock rumors paint Vasseur as the problem as well lol. He did not sign this driver, Ferrari Corporate did. In the larger scheme Management will need to decide what is to be done. I suspect nothing. If the 2026 car is not effective, LH will leave in my opinion. The Management will move him to the Ambassadorial role they have set up.
Also, Ferrari and Hamilton will design the F44 with manual transmission.....predecessor to the F40(Hamiltons favorite car)....fyi.
If you win. You beat your team mate AND everybody else. If you beat your team mate. Then you just beat your team mate. The simple math is, you accomplish two things instead of one thing. Beating your team mate will never, ever, ever be placed above winning.
It certainly keeps your seat IF you beat your teammate time and time again IF your not winning in the front.
Hey sunshine, not every team is winning up in the front-->Redbulls(aka Toro Rosso), Sauber, HAAS, Williams, AMRF1. So in essence, beat your teammate.
I love how there is now an argument picked with a team owner and racing driver, by the person that did nothing but desperate stad-pad using teammates for the last **** knows how many years. 10 - 0
