Mirko Bortolotti in a bit of trouble for ignoring red flag situation during 24 Hours of
Nurburgring qualifying in the Abt Lamborghini.

    Follow the bouncing red flags…

Some drivers claim they get tunnel vision while driving and don't see flags or lights.
But, you have to imagine they were on the radio to him to notify of the situation and
to miss 12 red lights/flags is a bit excessive.

According to a friend on the ground at Nurburgring, “He is definitely under observation
and has only been allowed to keep his Nordschleife permit on probation.”

Missing that many red flags is beyond unacceptable for a rookie let alone a seasoned professional. There is ZERO excuse and the penalty should be draconian. The red flag is incredibly serious especially at a place like the Nurburgring. He could have easily plowed into an accident scene and if he gets 'tunnel vision' then he is unfit to drive a racing car. Being aware of flags is a critical part of the job.

This is where officials show no backbone; Bortolotti demonstrated that he was unfit to drive, and was still treated with leniency. He should have been immediatly banned from the race, and have his licence taken away.
His irresponsible behaviour was bordering in criminal, IMO.

He flew by more red flags than a Soviet pilot during a victory day parade.

He ignored the red flags as consequently as I tend to do when she has spectacular boobs.

In not so many words, he got away with his reckless behaviour.
