So George to Aston and Max to Mercedes lol???????????? Exclusive: Russell is on Aston Martin’s F1 radar for 2026 - George Russell is a target to lead Aston Martin’s Formula 1 revival in 2026 - according to a leading paddock source. Autosport understands that the 27-year-old is being considered as part of the team’s future plans following the biggest regulation change in F1’s history.
I´d only move to Aston Martin if I hadn´t anything better or was offered silly money. Any rule change is a gamble, but with a team that is in a re-build phase and new engine supplier, it´s a crapshoot.
Aston Martin has both Alonso and Lance "under contract" for 2026. Who would they let go to make room for Russell, Lance or Fernando?
This^^^ Precisely. Looking / reading what Newey has stated in the press about Aston's 'tools' they are not sounding close to being WDC team in the near future.
True, but with Toto Wolff apparently eager to deprive Red Bull of their best asset, and Kimi being his "protégé", Russell must start to feel where the wind comes from, and explore his options.
To replace Alonso? AM team cannot be considered a serious one until the Stroller leaves. He is wasting any chance of maximizing the car's potential. Any chance of developing Newey's efforts will water down with only one good driver.
They need experience and youth. FA is ticking clock and Lance drives too much like he is no longer capable of growing. A Russell is whats needed. 2 actually for the team to move forward.
I was almost laughing, so who represents the youth and experience between Russell and Stroller? I think this silly season contemplates the possibility that Alonso may retire, but if not, Russell and Alonso would be a good pairing. I think Alonso is also buying time, as if he had all in the world, to see if the Stroller finally gives up.
FA and Lance need to go. What young driver program does Stroll Sr manage. They need have some depth. Again not a team about to lead the F1 field.
Whoever they bring, Stroll has to go. Now they can put him in the Le Mans car to save the face. Alonso still can do the job until he dies of poisoning after bitting his own tongue or a young miracle appears, whatever happens first.
Expecting results already in 2026 is premature, but the team should progress to the top in future years.
Madrid as it is today - the new 'circuit' lol Work is ongoing around the clock as organisers of Madrid's 2026 Spanish Grand Prix are bullish on their chances of getting Formula 1's latest venue ready in time - despite the face of local resistance. Just over a month ago, construction began on the Madring circuit. The track is set to make its F1 debut next September, using a hybrid of existing streets and a purpose-built road course section around the IFEMA fairgrounds and Real Madrid's Valdebebas training complex. They are building a huge banked corner. The rest of the circuit layout looks..... two overtaking opportunities and then? Huge debate.
Then after 3 laps of no passing, post the start, we tire manage and pass in the pits when changing to new tires to manage more lol
Bottas closes in on F1 return with Cadillac Senior representatives of the American brand, set to make its F1 debut next season, will attend the British Grand Prix and speak to candidates for its two seats - with Bottas understood to be top of the list
Russsell has confirmed that Merc is in talks with Max and that's the reason his contract hasn't been renewed yet.
Toto Wolff has confirmed Mercedes is exploring the possibility of signing Max Verstappen in the future, but insists it is not impacting ongoing contract talks with George Russell for 2026. Speculation over Verstappen leaving Red Bull for Mercedes intensified on Thursday after Russell said his talks were being delayed because his team is also pursuing the four-time world champion. Russell is out of contract with Mercedes at the end of this year, which also has 18-year-old Andrea Kimi Antonelli signed on a long-term deal. Verstappen is under contract with Red Bull until 2028, although the team's motorsport advisor Helmut Marko has spoken openly about performance-based clauses that could see the 27-year-old leave before that date. "First of all, there is no delay in George's contract situation because it's pretty clear since a long time what our timings were," Wolff told Sky Sports. "We've known each other for such a long time so there is no such thing as a delay. "But also as a team principal responsible for the best car brand in the world it is clear you're exploring what a four-time world champion is going to do in the future, and that could be a long time in the future. But that has no effect on us putting a signature on George's contract."
