I have a bit of an odd issue with my 599. It just hit 11k miles and is a factory HGTE car. When cold, right after the engine has started, the clutch is extremely "grabby" (to the point that it has stalled a couple of times). It is very bad in reverse. Not as bad in 1st gear. Paddle shift car (obviously). Any ideas what might be causing this? Is this an issue that my dealer, Ferrari of Denver, can easily fix or should I start looking for an independent shop? Once the car is warmed up, the problem goes away 80%. I do have to be a little "light footed" off the line and especially when reversing.

    TIA!

Bonus pic of the cupholder I ordered off of Instagram! I understand I'm supposed to "be focused on driving" but sometimes a man needs a freaking drink! :D Really impressed by it. It's some sort of leather/faux leather and fits between the seat and center console. I'm amazed how sturdy and secure it is. No issues at all. I purchased it from Pamise (don't know if I can post outside links but here it is: https://carleathercup.pamise.com/ ) No relation.

Quick question that might be related, are you starting the car according to the directions and waiting for the engine OK? If you are giving it a lot of throttle then yes you're going to get a quick grab. I always give it a little throttle until I feel it engage, then you can do whatever you want.

Sounds like you may need to adjust the PIS on the gearbox ECU, but to be honest it was the really snatchy clutch take up when cold that was one of the main factors that drove me towards the manual swap. Driving out of a car park with the car lurching about gives the impression to onlookers that you’re a learner driver.

I have never had this experience with the car, interesting.

Okay I was hoping that the dealer could adjust something. Thanks! I've thought about a manual swap, but I'm not sure that the manual would really suit the character of the 599. With the E60 M5 I specifically hunted down a SMG car. With the 6MT, that gen M5 felt like any other M5. With the SMG, it feels like a race car.

Yep, by the time I actually start moving, it's at least two minutes of idling. Sometimes more like 5 minutes. And yes, I cannot even describe how gently I am using the gas. I don't know its physically possible to be more gentle--akin to just brushing the surface of an egg with a feather vs smashing the egg with a sledgehammer.

That is what I have been trying to remember. The first time, it stalled when I put it into reverse and started to move. The clutch didn't feather at all, it just grabbed and killed the engine. Since it did that, I have had this set of issues with it. That said, I've only owned the car for a little over a year and 2500 miles. So I'm not exactly completely fine-tuned with all the nuances to driving it.
